Pluto is a major antagonist in Mike Mignola's Hellboy-universe, who was known to the ancient Greeks as underworld ruler, but actually he was the leader of the Watchers who created the Ogdru Jahad. He was a major antagonist during the events of Hellboy in Hell and later in Sir Edward Grey: Acheron. He would later become the main antagonist of Koisechi in Hell and the main antagonist of the mignolaverse as a whole.

Background[]
Pluto was the leader of the Watchers that created the Ogdru Jahad during the dawn of time, and for creating evil, they were cast down to Hell by God. He became the ruler of Hell, until the second fall of the angels occurred, led by Satan. Satan and his demons waged a war against Pluto and his allies, which lasted for a thousand years, with Satan's side eventually triumphing. Most of the Watcher's were enslaved to built Pandemonium, but Pluto managed to escape, but ended up trapped in Tartarus, a realm under Hell itself.
Pluto would dwell in the Tartarus, realm bordering to Hell and ruled over the Erinyes, who dispensed justice among the denizens of Hell. The being would spend over 100 million years in the realm, dreaming and brooding in his deafeat and becoming a seething pool of madness and hate.
Hellboy in Hell[]
When Hellboy killed Satan, Hell fell into disarray, with many of the lesser demons killing their masters. Beelzebub, one the last infernal princes that was still alive, tried to argue with other major demons that finding Pluto would be the only one to reestablish order in Hell. This plan could never really be carried out, as Hellboy and the lesser demons came and destroyed the major demons. Despite this they managed to awaken the ancient deity.
Sir Edward Grey: Acheron[]
Overtime, after Hellboy had vanquished Rasputin and the Ogdru Jahad and caused the end world as well as the birth of a new one, the newly Pluto awakened. managed to contact Eligos, a demon and Duke of Hell, who was trapped by Sir Edward Grey. Pluto empowered Eligos with power, who freed himself, and managed the Duke managed to free and swore himself to the older watcher's cause to reclaim Hell.
Eligos would encounter Sir Edward Grey again, who pleaded with the demon to not follow Pluto's plan, claiming he is a liar who would ruin everything he and Hellboy had fought so hard to preserve. Eligos didn't care for the man's pleads and tried to kill the Sir Edward, who in turn had no choice but to kill the demon with his own supernatural powers, becoming the personification of the underworld-river Acheron.
