Subject's nickname - Poker. One of the most cruel bandits' leader, swine and rapist... Evidently his head is not okay: they say he caught a rare disease in the Zone.
~ General Voronin

Poker (Rus.: Кочерга) is a minor antagonist in the Ukrainian FPS Survival Horror video game S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl.

Poker is wandering bandit-master, originally a member of Borov's Gang. Suffers from some rare disease he caught in the Zone.

Personality[]

Poker is a savage, wicked, cruel, selfish, cruel, insensitive, deeply psychopathic and one of the most fearmost people in the Zone. He is considered violent and cruel even among Bandits themselves.

According to Voronin, Poker is a rapist. However it's unknow if Poker raped out of sexual desires or other reasons. If to take in consideration the nature of Post-Soviet criminals, then Poker most likely raped to ensure his dominance or to psychologically break, whatever person he raped. Poker suffers from frequent losses of memory, which caused him to forget nearly anything about himself or the world, he simply lives in the Zone with no past or future. His amnesiac state made Poker much more violent then he already was.

However, despite Voronin's description and his overall personality, he is fairly friendly twords other bandits and sometimes can be spotted with Friar, another experienced bandit, who was a member from the same gang as Poker.

Appearance[]

Poker wears a regular trench coat and turtle-neck inner jacket, popular among experienced bandits with a ski mask that covers his face.

Biography[]

It's unknow when or who was Poker before arriving at the Zone or about his past overall. It is known that at some point he joined Borov's Gang and was one of the high-ranked members of the gang alongside Friar. At some point, he caught a rare unknown disease, which gave him frequent memory loss, because of this, he doesn't remember his real name, his origin or who he is. The memory loss caused Poker to become much more violent and cruel, to the point when even bandits, feared him. After Borov's death and the gang's destruction, Poker and Friar both left the Dark Valley to escape the Military's cleanup.

Duty's leader, General Voronin, noticed the danger that Poker posses, and hired Mechenyj to neutralize him, which ended in success. Poker was killed for good.

In Call Of Pripyat, which takes place several months after Shadow Of Chernobyl, Poker is accidently mentioned by Kostoprav, a stalker-medic from Yanov station, when he tries to remember another stalker with a similar alias, Koryaga[1], it implies that even after Poker's death, stalkers still remember him.

Powers & Skills[]

  • Shotgun Skills: Poker posses a unique version of SPSA-14, with a threaded barrel which makes the shotgun more like a rifle and much more durably then a regular SPSA-14.
  • Pain Tolerance: Due to his extremely unstable and psychotic state, Poker is nearly immune to pain.
  • Intimidation: Poker is one of the most fearmost bandits in the entire Zone, feared even among themselves. Unlike others, Poker is just evil, he doesn't seek validation or respect from others
