Chief Hamrik is a minor antagonist in the manga series Monster. He is the corrupt chief of the Prague police station, who is in league with a number of other officers who formerly worked for the Czech Secret Police.
Biography[]
He is the head of the Prague police station and is in league with two corrupt officers, Head Detective Patera and Detective Janacek, who he let onto the force despite knowing of their history with the Czech secret police. When Inspector Zeman is found murdered, Hamrik orders the police to hunt down a man who was seen leaving the scene, and yells at Jan Suk for daydreaming, telling him that Zeman was a brilliant officer.
Suk investigates Zeman's death and discovers files in Zeman's locker implicating Patera and Janacek, as well as money that Zeman was paid to keep quiet. He presents these findings to Hamrik, who appears to be concerned and tells Suk not to tell anyone else about this, saying he will contact Suk later. However, Hamrik then tells Patera and Janacek that Suk is onto them. They decide that they'll have to kill Suk if he can't be bribed, and Hamrik approves this, saying he can't let it be known that he let them onto the force. However, Patera then offers the other two candy he was given by Johan Liebert, which turns out to be poisoned, and the three of them are later found dead.
