Poppy Bros. Jr. first appeared in the first installment of the Kirby series, Kirby's Dream Land, where he can be seen riding apples or Grizzos. However, the first instance where he uses his signature bomb-throwing move is Kirby's Super Star, where he grants Kirby the Bomb ability upon being swallowed. He is also seen throwing boomerangs at Kirby; with this version of Poppy Bros. Jr. giving Kirby the Cutter ability instead. Poppy Bros. Jr. also has an elder counterpart named Poppy Bros. Sr., who will try to impede Kirby's progress.
While most Poppy Bros. Jrs. are enemies to Kirby, some will assist him in his adventures. In Kirby's Super Star and its remake, Kirby Super Star Ultra, Poppy Bros. Jr. is a helper Kirby can summon whenever he obtained the Bomb ability. He is also a playable character in the sub mode, Helper to Hero. In Kirby Star Allies, Poppy Bros. Jr. is the first enemy Kirby will recruit to become a Friend.

Poppy Bros. Jr.s are elf-like humanoids who are usually seen with a smile on their faces. While coming in many outfits, Poppy Bros. Jr. usually wears a blue floppy hat with a white pom-pom on the end and white trimming around the rim of the hat. His clothes are the same color as his hat and have two yellow buttons on them. He also wears yellow pointed shoes. In some games such as Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land and Kirby's Return to Dream Land, he wears green shoes.

Red Poppy Bros. Jr.[]
Red Poppy Bros. Jrs. are, as their name suggest, red versions of Poppy Bros. Jr. They appeared in Kirby's Tilt 'n Tumble and behave differently from regular Poppys. Instead of throwing balls, they balance on apples while traveling in a wide arc.
Big Poppy Bros. Jrs.[]
Big Poppy Bros. Jrs are, as implied by their names, larger Poppy Bros. Jr. They are not to be confused with Poppy Bros. Sr., as they wear green/yellow shoes and have no legs or collar. They first appeared in Kirby's Return to Dream Land.

Even though Poppy Bros. Jr. was referred to as not much of a threat in Nintendo Power for Kirby's Dream Land, he is also listed as one of the toughest enemies in the game in the Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards Official Strategy Guide.
