The Portly Titan was a minor antagonist in the manga and anime Attack on Titan. It was formerly a resident in the village of Ragako. He and all the other inhabitants would be transformed into Pure Titans by the Marleyan Military, through the use of the spinal fluid turned gas weaponry from Zeke Yeager. This Titan would be one of the three that was responsible for the death of Mike Zacharias.
Appearance[]
Human Form[]
When he was still a human, appeared to be a middle-aged man with short brown hair and was rather stout. He used to wear simple townsfolk attire and boots.
Pure Titan form[]
It was quite large for a Pure Titan, presumably over 10 meters, it was noticed for having a big stomach and was constantly holding it with its hands. It had short brown hair that pointed to the back of its head, while also lacking eyebrows.

This Titan used to be an Eldian man and was a citizen of the village Ragako, that used to exist in Wall Rose.
Clash of the Titans arc[]
After the lack of advancement the Marleyan Warriors have exhibited in their mission to capture the Founding Titan. To help fasten up the progress, the Marleyan Military decides to send out Zeke Yeager, Pieck Finger, and a minor commission of soldiers carrying a gas weapon that had already been previously used to defeat and conquer enemy nations. The soldiers, Zeke, and Pieck went up to the Eldian village of Ragako and positioned numerous cannisters around the town, out of these pieces would leak out large amounts of gas that swept throughout the village. This gas was Zeke’s spinal fluid turned into a gaseous form, after each inhabitant of Ragako inhaled it, including this man who was seen walking through the village. Zeke then let out a scream which acted as a trigger for the transformation, this man and everyone else of Ragako were now turned into Pure Titans. This was merely a recoinassance mission, meant as a trial to test the enemy's strength and to stage for a future reak invasion of the Walls of larger scale by using Zeke's spinal fluid.
This Titan would walk to a Survey Corps headquarters together with Zeke Yeager and a few other Titans, he was ordered to go after the escaping soldiers on horseback, causing one soldier, Mike Zacharias, to fight off the Titans as his comrades escape. Mike would kill numerous of the Titans, only leaving four left, including the Portly Titan. It was staring at the soldier but didn’t dare to approach him. Zeke then picked up Mike’s horse and threw it at with very high speed, causing Mike to fall down and be grabbed by the Gluttonous Titan who attempts to devour him, but was stopped by Zeke. The Portly Titan would also not approach him on Zeke’s order. After a brief dialogue from Zeke to Mike, he steals his ODM Gear and leaves him. Mike lets out a brave shout, claiming to keep on fighting. Zeke then just simply tells the remaining Titans that they can do as they please with him. The Portly Titan along with the two remaining Titans ran towards Mike. All he could do was scream in helpless terror and pain as he was brutally torn apart by the Titans.
The Portly Titan would under Zeke’s orders, travel towards the ruins of Utgard Castle in the night, there he would find the rest of Mike’s squad. It launched its body on the Castle wall in an attempt to take down the building. As Mike’s Squad goes down to take out the enemies. The Portly Titan attaps to grab Gelgar, but he slices off the Titan’s fingers. Nanaba then flies up to the Titan from behind and slices its nape, killing the Titan. Its body then falls down and accidently crushed a few smaller Titans
Trivia[]
- A few fans have speculated that this Titan used to be pregnant woman, as it was constantly seen holding its rotund stomach. This was eventually proven false as the Titan used to be male, and considering the fact that Titans don’t have sexual organs, it presumably wouldn’t have this Portly appearance if that was the case.
