~ Natah urging for Ballas and Praghasa's swift defeat. |
Praghasa is one of the overarching antagonists of the MMO third-person shooter Warframe.
She was once the most powerful of all known Sentients, the mate of Hunhow and mother of both Natah and Erra. Capable of reconstructing herself by consuming matter from debris and other objects floating around in space, Praghasa's original purpose was to consume the Sun itself and wipe out all life in the Origin System. While her consciousness was lost in the Old War, her colossal body is still intact and functional, now functioning as Erra and Ballas's flagship during their second invasion and their seat of power in Narmer.
Unbeknownst to Erra, Ballas intends to fulfill Praghasa's purpose to propel himself towards the Sentient homeworlds in the Tau System, leaving everyone else behind to die in a system that is now lacking its sun.
Appearance[]
In addition to being by far the most powerful member of her kind present in the Origin System, Praghasa is also without question the largest, dwarfing the Murex ships that make up the bulk of the Sentient and Narmer fleets. Her head lacks a neck and is a direct extension of her colossal main body, with a massive mouth that allows her to suck up material directly in front of her. On either side of her body are rib-like appendages that extend red energy constructs that are wider than even she is.
Biography[]
Prelude to War[]
Hunhow's accidental awakening caused a chain-reaction that led to the return of other Sentients as well, among them his and Praghasa's son Erra. Along with the traitor Ballas, who had survived and even engineered the complete collapse of the Orokin Empire, Erra got to work on rebuilding their armies for a second invasion of the Origin System. With the system in complete chaos from the war between the Grineer and the Corpus, only the Tenno remained a threat. Ballas removed the Lotus, actually Natah brainwashed by the Orokin into becoming the leader and mother figure of the Tenno, from Natah's psyche and turned her back into her old self. Aboard Praghasa's braindead body, Ballas and Erra both schemed to take control of the Origin System and manipulated the player Tenno into rebuilding Ballas's sword "Paracesis", a weapon capable of killing Sentients. Using Natah to reignite Praghasa's heart and calling the Sentients scattered in their tombs throughout the Origin System together, the New War began.
The New War[]
Even with careful preparation by the Tenno, the Sentient forces proved too widespread and powerful to stop. Grineer and Corpus alike finally turned their weapons away from each other and towards the common enemy, but they could not resist for long. The player Tenno and an old soldier named Teshin attempted to infiltrate Praghasa, remove the Sentient leaders and rescue the Lotus, but they were deceived. Ballas and Erra had used Natah as bait and killed both her and the player Tenno, after which the might of Praghasa and the Murex fleet swiftly conquered the rest of the Origin System. With Praghasa as their citadel, the Sentients ushered in the era of the Narmer Empire and crowned Ballas as the new emperor of all worlds.
Years passed and although the system was firmly under his control, worshipping the very ground he walked on, it was not enough for Ballas. News of the survival of both Natah and the player Tenno enraged him, considering everything that currently bows to him as worthless when those that truly matter refuse to kneel. He decided that it was time for him to cross over to the promised lands that the Sentients had built in the Tau System, the original purpose the Orokin had given their creations, and burn down everything that he will leave behind. He moved the Narmer Murex fleet and Praghasa to the Sun and had her start devouring it to fuel the jump to Tau, which would doom all worlds in the Origin System to eternal darkness and oblivion.
As the Sun was being consumed, the intense solar flares burned through the entire Murex fleet and began to destroy even Praghasa herself, likely due to her being unable to do it properly without her consciousness. Natah and the player Tenno managed to defeat Ballas and stop Praghasa for good. It is unknown what happened to her after they left for safety, but it is likely that Praghasa was left behind to burn up completely so her power can never be used again.

Trivia[]
- Praghasa was initially planned to still be alive and play a direct role in The New War quest herself, as she was seen and heard encouraging her daughter to wage war on the Origin System in the first trailer for The New War.
- During the battle with the Ropalolyst following the Hostile Mergers event preceding The New War, Natah says that her mother was once a "carpenter", just as she says her father Hunhow was a "farmer". It is likely that this refers to their original function before rebelling against the Orokin, Praghasa having been in charge of building new homes on Tau.
- Praghasa is the single largest creature known to have existed in the Warframe universe, outright dwarfing the Murex warships that themselves function as maps in the game.
