Fire at will
~ President Tyrak ordering the massacre of protestors

President Tyrak is the main antagonist of the 2021 choice based narrative adventure game, Road 96, and the overarching antagonist of it’s prequel, Mile 0.

He is the despotic ruler of Petria, who maintains an autocratic dictatorship of the nation as he plans to win a reelection, while attempting to silence any political dissidents and anyone who crosses the border.

Personality[]

Not much is shown of Tyrak, only appearing near the end of the game during the election. As it’s presented, Tyrak exhibits a despotic tyranny across the nation, having complete control of the citizens while bribing the police into doing his bidding. Despite this, Tyrak maintains a heavy propaganda for his public image, presenting himself as a benefitor to the public, an act that works with many. However, once we see him physically and learn of his crimes, Tyrak is fully realized as a power hungry tyrant who was willing to kill scores of innocents just to keep himself alive and maintain his authority.

Biography[]

Not much is known about Tyrak’s life besides the fact he has a son, Colton. At some point in time, likely 1976, Tyrak one the Petria presidential election, yet remained a controversial figure as he began repressive actions against the country and manipulated the voting to keep himself in power. On the next election, in 1986, The Black Brigades planned an assassination attempt on Tyrak’s life, with Robert Winters planning to blow up Mount National, where the border was located and Tyrak would be at. However, the plan was abandoned and instead, had John and Conny attempt to ram a truck into Tyrak. The President, figuring out the plan, detonated the bombs himself in order to save his life, an act that caused an avalanche that promptly killed dozens of people, including Jarod Thomspon’s daughter Lola, Alex’ biological parents, and Conny. Tyrak then blamed the attack on The Black Bridages, ensuring his reelection campaign.

Turning Petria into a despotic dictatorship, Tyrak had dissidents arrested, with teenagers attempted to rebel or cross the border being kidnapped and sent to The Iron Pits, a horrific detention center where the teens are presumably tortured and beaten, while any family members of the kids will be arrested as well. As the 1996 election looms, Tyrak ramps up the border control throughout, as seen throughout the game, and attempts to maintain public interest, though if the player chooses, they can turn the tides against him.

Tyrak can make his only appearance on the Election Day, where rioted gather around the border to protest. Tyrak immediately orders the police to open fire, much to the horror of his admins as the police open fire, killing many teenage protestors, among them being potentially Zoe, Alex and the last hitchhiker. Tyrak’s fate is player determined;, Tyrak can be violently overthrown, or he can lose the election to Senator Flores and be arrested for his crimes. However, if the hitchhikers leave and Tyrak’s public interest is maintained, he will win the election and abolish term limits, maintaining complete control of his country,
