Hi. This is Thesecret1070. I am an admin of this site. Edit as much as you wish, but one little thing... If you are going to edit a lot, then make yourself a user and login. Other than that, enjoy Villains Wiki!!!
The Primalists are the main antagonists of World of Warcraft: Dragonflight.
They are a faction of rogue proto-dragons and their mortal followers that have rejected the edicts of the Titans, in favor of the elements. This resulted in a cataclysmic war between the Primalists and the titan empowered Dragon Aspects and their dragonflights, ending with their leaders known as the Primal Incarnates being sealed away in the Dragon Isles long ago.
However, their followers have made a resurgence in present day Azeroth, and with the aid of Kurog Grimtotem, they were able to successfully release the youngest of the Primal Incarnates Raszageth the Storm-Eater from her prison, who's now poised at wiping out the Dragon Aspects, and releasing the rest of her fellow Incarnates so they can rule over Azeroth and all life in it.
The origins as to where the Primalists came from, can be traced tens of thousands of years ago, with the death of the colossal proto-dragon Galakrond at the hands of the five proto-dragons allied with titankeeper Tyr, these being; Alexstrasza, Malygos, Ysera, Nozdormu, and Neltharion. The Titans where so impressed by these five proto-dragons' skill and courage in slaying Galakrond, that they blessed them with their arcane magics, transforming them into the Dragon Aspects, with the purpose of defending Azeroth from any and all threats.
Aspects offered to share this blessing to their proto-dragon kin, many of these proto-dragons agreed and became the loyal followers of the Aspects known as the five dragonflights of red, blue, green, bronze, and black. However their were some proto-dragons that where skeptical if not greatly appalled by the Titans' blessings, but while some chose to peacefully refuse the offer and fled to Northrend, other more radical proto-dragons believed that dragon kind should rule over all life and that the Titans' edicts where blasphemy as all dragon kind was born from the elements, not the Titans. These radical proto-dragons then infused themselves with the elements becoming the Primal Incarnates and rallied their likeminded proto-dragon followers to form an organization known as the Primalists with the purpose of apposing the Dragon Aspects and their Titans masters.
The War[]
This division amongst the two dragon factions resulted in a cataclysmic war. In response Neltharion the Black Dragon Aspect created the Dracthyr, draconic humanoids with the powers of the five dragonflights combined, and used a Titan made artifact to keep them under his control. Together the Aspects, their dragonflights, and the Dracthyr fought battle after battle, sealing the Primal Incarnates away one by one within the Vault of the Incarnates as Alexstrasza didn't had it in her to kill her former clutch mates.
With three Incarnates imprisoned, Naltharion and his Dracthyr amassed at Forbidden Reach for one last battle, but where caught off-guard by a surprise attack from the last Incarnate Raszageth. During the battle, Raszageth destroys the Titan artifact controlling the Dracthyr freeing them from his control. So Neltharion, in an act of desperation turns to the power of the Old Gods that have been slowly eating away at his sanity, to seal Raszageth away within Forbidden Reach.
The Aspects won the war, but countless lives have been lost. In the aftermath, Neltharion, no longer having active control over the dracthyr, deemed them to be to much of a risk, and so put them in a deep stasis only to reawaken should the Primalists return, with members of the Blue Dragonflight stationed to watch over them and prevent them from escaping should they reawaken prematurely. The Dragons have since then left the Dragon Isles to protect Azeroth, leaving the Isles under the care of their Drakonid followers.
The Return[]
With the Primal Incarnates imprisoned on the Dragon Isles, Primalist activity has completely ceased for the next 20,000 years. That is until the modern day, when a new generation of Primalists finally reveal themselves after nearly a millennia. It is unknown where and when did this new Primalist faction was established, all that is known was that they surfaced some time after the defeat of the Jailer at the hands of Champions of Azeroth, and that it was made up of mortals from all races who grew to detest the Titans' ethics and that they knew the truth about them. Wanting to cleanse Azeroth from the Titans' falsehoods and return dominion over to the elements, the Primalists led by Kurog Grimtotem, led a surprise attack on the Forbidden Reach in the hopes of freeing the Primal Incarnate Raszageth, prompting the reawakening of the Dracthyr. The Dracthyr tried to stop the Primalists but where unsuccessful, as Kurog was eventually able to break the seal keeping Raszageth imprisoned.
With Raszageth now freed, the Primalists have made their full resurgence. They led attacks on Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms by summoning giant elementals, before turning their sights on the Dragon Isles. These attacks prompt the Alliance and Horde to join forces once more and lead an expedition into the Dragon Isles to find out what's going on and put an end to the Primalist threat, now with aid of the newly awakened Dracthyr, looking to find their place in this vast unfamiliar world.
By the time Alliance and Horde forces and their champions (the players) arrived on the Isles, the Primalists have already made their move, stealing red dragon eggs and forcibly infusing them with the elements turning them into feral monsters. The ones that where transformed where put out of their misery, while the rest where taken to the Ruby Life Pools to recover. Suddenly, Raszageth and her Primalist forces led a surprise attack on the Life Pools. Alexstrasza the Red Dragon Aspect tries to reason with the Storm-Eater stating that they where once clutch mates, Raszageth angrily rebukes her claim, stating the injustices she and her kind suffered at the hands of the Titans. And so the two dragons clash, with Raszageth eventually overpowering Alexstrasza thanks to her primal influence over the storms. She was about pull the final blow, but just before she could finish off the Queen of Dragons she's interrupted by the black dragon Wrathion. She then decides to spare Alexstrasza for now, just for the sadistic pleasure of forcing her to watch as everything that she loved and cherished perish around her. With that she and her Primalists retreat for the time being, while a small contingency led by Melidrussa Chillworm decided to stay and cause further havoc, attempting to corrupt the dragon whelps with elemental magics to return them to their "natural forms", but they where quickly dealt with, thanks to the Champions of Azeroth.
With Alextrasza injured and the Primalists wreaking havoc on the Dragon Isles, the Aspect realized that they need to regain their aspectral powers if they want to stand a chance against the Primalist threat. Since Aspects sacrificed their powers to defeat the corrupted and insane Neltharion (now known as Deathwing), they must somehow find a way to regain their lost powers. Alexstrasza suggests that if they renew the Dragonflight Oathstones that where inactive after the Dragon Isles went dormant, they might be able to become dragon aspects once again. To that end, Alexstraza was able to renew the Red Oathstone thanks to the champions disposing the primalists in the Ruby Life Pools, while black dragons Wrathion and Sabellian despite their bickering where able to renew the Black Oathstone. Now they just need to renew the Green, Blue, and Bronze Oathstones to repower the Mother Oathstone to become Dragon Aspects once again.
