Prime Minister Zarek is an alien villain from the Marvel Comics universe and a enemy of Captain Marvel.

Story

Zarek is the corrupt prime minister of the Kree empire. He secretely resented the empire's leader, the Supreme Intelligence, as he believes the Kree shouldn't be ruled by an artificial entity and that he would lead the empire into a glorious age. He conspired with Ronan the Accuser (Marvel) to concot an elaborate scheme, posing as the cosmic entity Zo, in order to take personal control of the Kree empire. But Zarek was stopped by Captain Marvel and the Supreme Intelligence and the exiled from the empire as a traitor.

Zarek next emerged as a leader of a renegade band of "Blue" Kree insurgents called the Lunatic Legion. In Zarek's opinion, the original blue race were the pure-breed of the Kree, as well as its rightful rulers. He set up an outpost on Earth's moon and also enlisted his Lunatic Legion to eliminate his adversary Mar-Vell. Again, Zarek and his allies were opposed and ultimately defeated by Captain Marvel.

Trivia

• As he particularly despises Krees that do not have blue skin, many would consider Zarek a racist. He considered Captain Marvel an inferior and often refered to Kree with light skin pigmentation as "Pinks".

• He was deemed to have a "local" threat level by the Nova Corps Files.
