People think I'm just some young girl. Someone's future wife, or... future mother. But I’m not in someone else’s story... you’re all in mine.
~ The Prince
Now I... I am the White Death!
~ The Prince last words as she boasts about being the new White Death before getting hit by a truck by Lemon.

The Prince is the secondary antagonist of the 2022 action-comedy film Bullet Train, based on Kōtarō Isaka's 2010 dark comedic thriller novel Maria Beetle.

She is an assassin who is out to get revenge on her father, the White Death, for neglecting her. While on the train, the Prince poses as a young innocent girl to avoid suspicion and succeed in her plans.

She was portrayed by Joey King, who also played the young Talia al Ghul in The Dark Knight Rises, Magenta in The Flash, Claire Shannon in Wish Upon and Poppy Prescott in Despicable Me 4.

History[]

The girl who grew up to become the Prince was born to the White Death, an infamous and feared Russian crime lord, and his wife. She had a brother. However, her father preferred her brother more as his candidate to take over the family's criminal organization after him, desiring to have his daughter marry a powerful man and give him grandchildren instead. This infuriated his daughter, who took up the moniker of "The Prince" due to the feelings that her father would have valued her much more had she been born male. Before the events of the film, the White Death disowns the Prince and chooses her brother over her, sending her down the path of becoming an assassin.

Some time in the future, Prince pushes Yuichi Kimura's son off a roof, in order to later blackmail him into helping her kill her own father. She is first seen on the bullet train, posing as an innocent girl when Kimura finds her. He assumes that she is innocent and she knocks him out and tells him about how she is responsible for his son's injuries. She then tells him of her plans and blackmails him into helping her by threatening to have his son killed in the hospital by one of her bodyguards if she hasn't called back ever 10 minutes.

The pair makes their way through the train until they find the briefcase belonging to the White Death. She places a bomb in the briefcase and when both try to leave, they are confronted by Lemon, an assassin looking for the briefcase. She tricks Lemon into shooting Kimura and overpowers and seemingly kills Lemon as well. The Prince soon finds her dead brother and mocks him by spitting onto his dead face before putting back in the position he’s in and walking off.

Later, she tricks Ladybug into thinking Tangerine attacked her for no reason resulting in Tangerine accidentally shooting himself while facing Ladybug. And attempts to use him to kill White Death, before the Elder shows up and Ladybug runs screaming after being bitten by a snake, trying to get rid of it.

The Prince mocks him and tells him his son Kimura is dead and his grandson will be too since she hasn't called her bodyguard, but The Elder chuckles and tells her he isnt dead and that she didn't think his grandson wouldn't have any protection, revealing he already knew the whole time and had his own female bodyguard dressed as a nurse watch over his grandson to kill The Prince's bodyguard the second he tries to kill the kid. Outsmarted and with all her plans failed, Prince runs away in panic in a desperate attempt to kill White Death herself.

When her father attacks the train at the final train stop, she confronts him at gunpoint with her gun, which she rigged to kill the one who pulls the trigger. As she planned, her father easily disarms her and points the rigged gun at her. However, despite her urging him to pull the trigger, he refuses to shoot due to not seeing her as worth killing. She hides away on the train in the ensuing battle between the White Death and his forces against Ladybug, Lemon, The Elder, and Kimura, during which Lemon tackles a henchman out of the train and into a lake.

The train derails and crashes soon after, but the Prince, the White Death, Ladybug, The Elder, and Kimura all survive the carnage. After the White Death accidentally shoots himself in the head with the rigged gun while trying to kill her father, the Prince reveals herself and confronts Ladybug, the Elder, and Kimura with a machine gun. Rejoicing in her victory, she declares that she is the new White Death and will take over her father's empire before being ran over with a fruit truck by Lemon.

Trivia[]

  • Although her father the White Death was the main villain, The Prince had more screentime and dialogue and did just about all the action since she more often seen with more killings and seemed more sadistic than the White Death. Once her father was dead, The Prince became the last antagonist to die (though Lemon was the only villain still standing).
  • In the novel, The Prince is a male middle school student named Satoshi Oji(王子 慧), while his surname "Oji(王子)" literally means "The Prince". He has nothing to do with Minegishi, the novel version of the White Death and in the movie is the former boss of White Death.
