Earth Imperial Prince Igam (in Japanese: 帝王子イガム, Chiteiōshi Igamu) is the crown prince of the Tube Empire, second to only Emperor Zeba himself, and the secondary antagonist of the TV series Hikari Sentai Maskman. She is the sister of Princess Iyal and in reality a woman pretending to be a man, disguising herself as a male in order to be able to claim the throne of Tube.
She was portrayed by Mina Asami, who also plays her twin sister Ial.
History[]
Past[]
As the eldest child of the Igam royal family, Igam was raised a male in order to one day take the throne of Tube. However, the Igam family was later overthrown by Zeba, who took the throne of Tube for himself and separated Igam from her sister Iyal under the belief that the two sisters would be the cause of his downfall. Although Zeba had usurped her family, Igam served him loyally in the hopes that she would one day be able to take the throne from him and restore the Igam Family to power.
Hikari Sentai Maskman[]
Igam was present when Emperor Zeba announced the Tube Empire's invasion of the surface. She led a team of Unglermon Fighters in carrying attacks across the surface before joining Commander Baraba's forces on the ground in battling the Maskman.
After Igua Doggler was defeated by the Maskman, Igam and the other Tube military commanders returned to the Underground Castle, where Iyal had been brought to be punished for falling in love with Takeru. Although Ial pleaded with her, Igam desired to kill her sister for disgracing the Igam family name restore her family's name, but Zeba chose to punish Iyal by sealing her in ice instead. This led Igam to instead focus her hatred on Takeru, the human who her sister had fallen in love with and betrayed the Tube for. Throughout the Tube's many battles against the Maskmen, Igam would personally fight Takeru several times and make attempts to kill him in order to restore her family's honor.
Igam would later be revealed as a woman after being beaten by the Maskmen in battle, something which came as a shock to the other elites in Tube. Despite this, Igam only became even more resolved in her fury to defeat the Maskmen and retake the throne of Tube. When Kiros retrieved the frozen Ial from Tube's chambers with help from Baraba, Igam went with Fumin and Jigoku Doggler to take him out and retrieve Ial. They were able to kill Kiros, but Ial was freed from her imprisonment by Takeru and reunited with him.
Igam was later present when Ial and Takeru learned of Zeba's true origins as Lethal Doggler II from a crystal ball recording, which Anagmas destroyed before they could learn how to defeat him. Although Igam was taken aback by the fact that she had been used by an Earth Imperial Beast, she continued to serve Zeba. She was later present when Zeba packed the Underground Castle with Evil Particles and ordered it raised to the surface as part of his final plan, something which would require the sacrifices of his remaining minions. However, Igam was saved by Fumin's sacrifice and joined the Maskmen on the surface in confronting Zeba. She combines her power with Iyal's using the Igam Royal Pendant and combines that with the Aura power of the five Maskman to expose Zeba's true form as Lethal Doggler II.
After the Maskman destroy Lethal Doggler II, Igam abdicates her claim to the throne and leaves it to Ial. Instead, Igam became a Buddhist nun to find peace.
