Kasef, also known as Prince Kasef, is a supporting antagonist in the Netflix TV Show The Dragon Prince.
He was the prince of the kingdom of Neolandia, who took over the kingdom after his father Ahling was gravely injured by Moonshadow assassins that were used by Lord Viren to force the Human Kingdoms to go to war onto Xadia. Because of this, Kasef decided to go to war against Xadia to get revenge on them for "attempting" to kill his father.
He was voiced by Vincent Tong, who voiced Jestro in Lego Nexo Knights, Henry Wu in Lego Jurassic Park, Mandarin in Iron Man: Armored Adventures, and Namagem in Mega Man: Fully Charged.
Biography[]
Backstory[]
Kasef was born as the crown prince of Neolandia and the son of King Ahling 19 years before the first three seasons' events. Not much is known about his backstory other than this, other than the fact that he wasn't very smart, as his father mentions during a reunion to Queen Aanya that she knew twice as many words as his son and that he still argued with his father about eating vegetables, particularly brocoli.
After his father was heavily injured by Moonshadow assassins sent by Viren in order to manipulate the Humam Kingdoms to wage war against Xadia, Kasef took over and tried to do just that, and it also worked with Del Bar and Evenere as well, due to the rulers of their their kingdoms, King Florian and Queen Fareeda respectively, were killed by the assassins.
Season 3[]
Kasef is first seen meeting Ezran shortly after becoming king, and expresses is condolences for his father Harrow's death, he then tries to convince him to help him in the plan to wage war on Xadia, but Ezran refuses, causing Kasef to ask why someone so young was a king and that Harrow would be ashamed of him becoming the king he was, causing Opeli to tell him to leave.
Kasef would then start a conpiracy plan to force Ezran to give up on his position as king alongside Saleer and Viren. After it was made clear that Ezran would not go to war and that he was going to stay king, he brought his army to Katolis and told Ezran that Katolis would either go war against Xadia, or Neolandia and the other two kingdoms would wage war on Katolis.
To avoid thousands of people getting killed, Ezran abdicated his role as king, but not before making one final act by allowing the people who didn't wish to fight to go back to their homes and families. Ezran would then be imprisoned and Viren became the king of Katolis, and then waged war on Xadia.
While going to Xadia, he would have a talk with Soren and he mispelled his kingdom's name by calling it Noodleloodia, causing him to walk away from Soren. After Viren and Soren have an argument, Viren tells him that Kasef was better than him and that he should get advice from him on how to become a better leader. Kasef later ask if Viren was okay because he was talking to an insect in his ear, who was actually Aaravos' familiar.
When Viren returned to his army after getting the power of the Sun Fire elves' staff, he tried to have Soren turned into a magma monster first to show it to his soldiers, but Soren refused, and when Viren was about to lash out at Soren for it, Kasef accepted being the first to get the power, causing him to be turned into a sunfire monster.
After turning his army into sunfire monsters as well, Viren went to the Storm Spire to get Azymondias and take his magic and life, but is found with an army of both elves and humans. When Viren was about to order an attack, the Sunfire Kasef broke out of line and attacked first. During the fight, he killed a few Sunfire elves and had a fight with Janai.
After getting powered by the fire of the dragons, Kasef climbed the Storm Spire and attempted to kill Callum, but Aanya appears and shoots him with arrows, causing him to die and fall off the mountain.
Personality[]
Kasef is an arrogant and ruthless individual, who is mentioned to have had fights with his father just because he didn't want to eat vegetables, proving that despite his age, he has a childish nature. Unlike Ezran who doesn't wish to get revenge on the people who hurt him and wants peace, Kasef wants to do just that, and was willing to do anything in order for it to happen, even if it means wiping out the elves in Xadia or destroying Katolis for refusing to go to war.
Despite their arguments, Kasef seems to care for his father, as he wanted to go to war against Xadia for a Moonshadow elf gravely injuring him. After becoming a sunfire monster, he became a wrathful being set on attacking and killing everyone he saw that wasn't in his side. Kasef also is what Viren wants in his son, a ruthless but loyal individual set on doing anything to accomplish his goals.

Trivia[]
- After his death, it's so far unknown who took over Neolandia, although it's possible that Ahling returned to being king after his injuries were treated.
- In a darkly ironic twist, Kasef, in his quest to avenge his father's near-death experience, became a loyal ally of the man truly responsible for his father's injuries, and dies a nearly mindless monster in service to Ahlings would be murderer without ever learning the truth.
- In most mediums, magic will often reveal the true nature of a person by making their outside appearance match who they are in spirit. Seeing as Kasef turned into a rageful brute when enhanced by Viren's spell, this was very likely his true nature; seeing as the soldiers just looked like enraged Sunfire Elves.
