Long range attacks with blades, mid-range attacks on blindspots, brute strength at short range. Whatever you come up with, it won't work.
~ Awakened Priscilla

Priscilla ( Jap. プリシラ Purishira) is the main antagonist of the manga/anime series Claymore. Known as the "One-Horned Monster", she is the most powerful Awakened Being to exist, surpassing all Abyssal Ones and Clare's archenemy. During her time as a Claymore-warrior, she possessed high potential ability and like Teresa, could fight hordes of Yoma without use of her Yoma power reserve. She rose to the position of No. 2 after just a few months in the field and was tasked to assassinate Teresa with the help of fellow single-digits Irene (current No. 2), Noel (No. 4), and Sophia (No. 3). It was during this mission that she reached her limit and awakened, killing Teresa and triggering the events of the series.

She is voiced by Aya Hisakawa in the Japanese version of the anime and Brina Palencia in the English version, the latter of whom also voices Yuno Gasai and Rikako Ōryō.

Appearance[]

Childhood[]

Priscilla appears during the preadolescence phase, between 8–12 years of age. Priscilla has brown eyes and dark hair that is cropped short. Later, as an awakened being, she reverts to this phase when she takes human form. During the 7-year time skip, she continues to regress from pre-adolescence to childhood.

Warrior[]

Physical[]

A razor-sharp layered bob frames a naïve face. Shorter than average height.

Uniform[]

Old generation uniform of the Teresa era. A double crescent buckle keeps 2-layer shoulder straps on the shoulders. Typical of the era, vambraces are worn below the elbow and lower legs are worn down the middle.

Height: 165cm (approx. 5ft 4.96 in.)[1]

Awakened[]

While partially awakened, Priscilla has a Yoma-like appearance in the plateau sequence.[2]She fully awakens into a demonic skeleton angel with reptilian wings and a single horn on her forehead.[3]

Her hair is similar to the way it was in her Claymore form, but more tousled than usual, and she retains much of her human face with the exception of her horn. In the anime, her skin is a light shade of blue-violet.

Evaulation: "Subject received high ability ratings throughout, indicating tremendous untapped potential. Furthermore, her slaughtering of large numbers of Yoma without releasing any Yoma power is reminiscent of Teresa".

"Is mentally unstable from trauma suffered as a child."[4]

Evaulation: "Since the subject possessed the potential power of a number 1, it must be understood that this creature transcends ordinary Awakened beings, with overwhelming power equal to that of an awakened number 1. Under the given circumstances, even with combined powers, it would be impossible for us to suppress her".[5]

Beyond Abyssal One[]

To hate Yoma deeply, while at the same time harboring her flesh and blood within oneself. This very contradiction, based on hatred of Yoma and self-hatred, is the source of a warrior's inhuman powers. And that's where Priscilla surpasses them all.
~ Dae refers to the emotional power of hatred

Her potential abilities stem from her self-hatred, sparked by childhood trauma, and her hatred of Yoma. A hatred capable of manifesting itself in physical form, making her natural abilities virtually limitless.[6]

Upon initial confrontation, Isley, like Rigardo, notices Priscilla's "unusual" regeneration after overwhelming them both.[7] As Riful meet Priscilla the first time in the south, she realizes that Priscilla is "much stronger" than Dauf and herself. She explains Clare that even Luciela and Riful with "joined forces" wouldn't able to defeat her.[8]

Abilities[]

  • Absorption: Capable of absorbing organic and inorganic matter, allowing control over absorbed enemies, their powers and individual abilities. Absorbed the material of her sword, enabling formation of the sword itself.[9]
  • Creation: Through her all-encompassing hatred, Priscilla developed a type of regeneration that is more like an act of "creation", exceeding the level of any type of regeneration, compared to "gods domain". After assimilating Cassandra and rejoining her old arm Priscilla evolved into even more powerful being - her "true form", she has no Vital weak point, and decapitation has no deadly effect either. Not only is she able to regenerate instantly, each time she does so a stronger body will be created. During her final battle, her ability to create evolves progressively, taking on various, grotesque forms. Creation forms a number of appendages that instantaneously expand to form different shapes, sizes and complete bodies.
    • Life Inducement: Priscilla's arm, although cut off from her body, still harbors her energy. And even after a second split, he's still able to resurrect the bodys of three former number 1s. Even her particles have enough energy to breathe new life into destroyed earth. In a short time, a sea of plants grows, with the flowers are spread over the area.[10]

Endless Creation

Technique[]

Yoki Control[]

Yoki Control (Jap. 妖気制御 Yōki seigyo), named in Priscillas data sheet.

She uses her Yoki Control Technique as warrior and awakened being.

Often confused with Rafaela's Full Yoki Suppression, which suppresses existing Yoki energy. Priscilla's Yoki Energy Control-Technique regulates Yoki Energy production at source, adjusting the amount from 0-100%.

Compare Teresa's initial reactions to Rafaela[11] with Priscilla.[12]

In Priscilla's case, it is also assumed that it may have been a self-protective instinct to avoid being at the mercy of her great potential abilities.

Dae's Realization[]

Her awakened form is a vessel for her endless overflow of life energy. This energy is kept in check by her technique to regulate Yoki energy production at source. Resulting in her awakened form, which appears humanoid. The "endlessly overflowing creature" is enclosed in a "nearly human form".
