“ | After a year in a Viltrumite prison, I could use a warm-up. | „ |
~ Prisoner Mark before facing off against Cast Iron. |
Markus Sebastian "Mark" Grayson, formerly known as Invincible and nicknamed "Prisoner Mark", is a minor antagonist in the Invincible comics and its animated adaptation.
This variant of Invincible was imprisoned in a Viltrumite Prison for nearly a year, presumably by his own father Omni-Man, where he would be tortured and scarred beyond recognition. He was eventually freed by Angstrom Levy, who recruited him to tarnish the image of his mainstream counterpart in exchange for his freedom and possibly revenge against his father.
Following Angstrom's betrayal, he was stranded in the Wasteland Universe alongside 7 other Invincible variants, who would later come together to kill him to cannibalize his remains.
He was voiced by Steven Yeun, who also played all the other Alternate Mark Graysons, A. Traveler in The Twilight Zone, Ricky "Jupe" Park in Nope and Danny Cho in Beef.
Biography[]
Background[]
“ | Run! Flee! This is nothing compared to what I'm going to do to my father once I find him! | „ |
~ Prisoner Mark's message to the people of Moscow. |
It is heavily implied that this version of Mark shares a backstory with his mainstream counterpart, even donning goggles that imply that he was once Invincible in the past. After Omni-Man made his true loyalties to the Viltrum Empire known, Mark presumably attempted to stop his father in an altercation that likely mirrored the Battle of Chicago in the mainstream universe. However, the Omni-Man of this universe remained loyal to his cause and imprisoned Mark and presumably took over the planet.
Prisoner Mark was tortured for over a year, suffering both irreparable damages to his psyche and body, now being a vindictive and wrathful individual and gaining a seething hatred towards his father. He was eventually reached by Angstrom Levy, who presumably offered him freedom from his captivity in exchange to tarnish the image of the mainstream Invincible.
Invincible War[]
On the first day of the war, Prisoner Mark attacked Moscow, Russia, taking the attack as a warm-up after nearly a year of inactivity. By the end of the third day of the War, Prisoner Mark had completely laid waste to Moscow, leaving it completely leveled.
By the end of the third day, Prisoner Invincible and the remaining variants were called to meet Angstrom Levy at the Grayson residence. Angstrom congratulates the remaining alternate Invincibles, who had their numbers weeded down to just eight, and asked them one last favor: to bring the mainstream Mark to him so that he could disfigure him back.
The Alternate Marks protest against this, causing Angstrom to strand them in the Wasteland Universe.
Death[]
Subsequently, he found himself trapped in the Wasteland Universe alongside the remaining seven other Alternate Marks. Prisoner Mark was last seen as a skeleton, suggesting he met a grim fate after being killed and consumed until he was just bones, which could imply that he was the first variant to be eaten.

Trivia[]
- This version of Invincible is, alongside Masked Mark and Maskless Mark, one of the only villainous alternate Marks that aren't affiliated with the Viltrum Empire and are instead helping Angstrom due to personal motives.
- Prisoner Mark is allegedly supposed to be a homage to Anakin Skywalker after he got burned by lava in Revenge Of The Sith.
- Prisoner Mark's black lenses are actually burnt into his skin, which is how they stay on his face.[1]
