“ | I can't believe I got taken right away! Mom, dad, I'm sorry. I know you covered this on my training, but... you use melons! I think cabbages are faster... | „ |
~ One of Priya's confessionals, displaying one of the dangerous challenges her parents subjected her to. |
Priya's Parents are the overarching antagonists of Total Drama Island 2023 and Total Drama Island 2024, the sixth and seventh seasons of the Canadian franchise Total Drama.
They are the parents of Priya, one of the sixteen new contestants who joins Chris McLean's Total Drama reboot. Huge fans of the show back during its original run, Priya's parents spent the fifteen years between the release of the first season and the seventh season training their daughter just in case there was ever a reboot.
History[]
Background[]
They were a couple who were huge fans of Total Drama, the most famous reality show in history of Canada hosted by Chris McLean that started with Total Drama Island 15-years-ago. Eventually, the couple conceived a daughter, whom they named Priya, and decided to train her into becoming a contestant for their favorite show and win the one million dollars prize just in case a reboot of their favorite show ever materialized.
Their daughter's training literally started the moment she was born, as Priya's mother went into labour helped by Priya's father in a snowy mountain, forcing their baby daughter to use her umbilical cord to make her first bump jump. When Priya was a child, her parents often forced her into doing dangerous stunts like climbing a wood wall while being pursued by a bear, fighting her with jousting sticks (with her father posing as the classic contestant Owen), shooting melons at her, sending her to a catapult camp, leaving her in the woods without food or water for a whole month, etc.
By the time Priya was sixteen years old, she had won several awards in multiple competitions and desired to attend medical school, but her parents didn't let her do so. Around this time, Total Drama was renewed for a reboot after a 12-year-long hiatus since the airing of Total Drama: Pahkitew Island, so Priya made an audition to the show and was accepted.
Total Drama Island 2023[]
Priya's parents don't make physical appearances per se in the actual season, but are shown in their daughter's audition upon being welcomed into Camp Wawanakwa II by Chris McLean and Chef Hatchet. Priya does mention them throughout the season, thanking their training for giving her the abilities necessary to win the season.
Despite Priya's apparent good opinion on them, her teammate and best friend Millie becomes concerned over the abusive exercises they subjected her friend to, especially after Priya reveals her wishes to pursue a career at medicine school, but her parents dissuaded her from doing so until she wins the season and other reality shows. Because of their actions, Millie writes about Priya and how horrible her best friend's parents are in her notebook before she actually sees Priya as a friend and decides to quit working on her notebook, but Bowie uncovers this after Julia's elimination and Priya finds out, consequently causing some drama between the two girls in the finale before they reconcile.
In the end, however, in spite of Millie's elimination, Priya makes it through the finale and beats Bowie (unlike past seasons, there's no alternate ending in which Bowie wins), crowning herself as the show's newest victor and winning the season, making the efforts of Priya's parents successful in the long run.
Total Drama Island 2024[]
After the first reboot season wraps up and the second one begins, despite her victory last season, Priya returns to win the million once more in "The Pink Painter Strikes Again!". As she reveals in her confessional, Priya Priya chose to return to the show again since her father insisted she should save her money in a trust fund until she turns forty. With the only other option being a summer job on the Wienie Wagon, Priya opted to return for a "rematch" season with the same cast. However, her parents will now allow her to go to medical school when she is ready.
In "Canoe Believe It?", after getting themselves eliminated from the challenge, Priya and Caleb opt to go to Camp Wawanakwa II's forest to look for the newest McLean Immunity Idol with no success. As they search for the statue, Priya and Caleb talk about their parents, with Priya finding out that Caleb's raised him strictly much like hers, leading the two to bond over their complicated relationships with their parents.

Trivia[]
- Despite appearing only in the season's premiere in recordings for Priya's audition, they are technically the overarching antagonists of the season (or at least from their daughter Priya's character arc) as they were responsible for training Priya since her infancy to win Total Drama, which eventually succeeds.
- This role in their daughter's performance in the competition make Priya's Parents the second relatives of a Total Drama contestant that are indirectly responsible for their drive to win the game, following Alejandro Burromuerto's brother Jose. However, while Jose does appear in a season, Priya's Parents are only shown in her audition.
- Their real names aren't known, but given how they look to be from Indian descent and how Priya is a common name in India, it's likely they are from India.
- Though unconfirmed, it's likely that Priya's parents were already adults when Total Drama Island aired, as the fourth generation cast (which includes Priya) is stated to be sixteen years old and Chris McLean states in the reboot's premiere that it has been fifteen years since the first Total Drama season aired.
- How exactly did Priya's parents do to avoid getting into trouble with child services by forcing her daughter since early childhood to put herself at risk in multiple dangerous stunts just to win a cancelled reality show that had no absolute guarantee of being renewed is beyond anyone's guess. However, considering that they were seemingly able to afford dangerous training equipment for their training sessions, it's possible that they bribed the authorities.
- It's unknown if they genuinely love their daughter at all since its shown that the only reason they gave birth to her is to train her so she will be the winner of Total Drama.
