~ Professor Clay's final words when witnessing the Gundalian and Neathian war. |
Professor Clay Fermin is the Vexos' lead scientist and the secondary antagonist of Bakugan Battle Brawlers: New Vestroia. He is the creator of the mechanical Bakugan and the right-hand to King Zenoheld. After his Bakugan Termination System which was designed to destroy all Bakugan on New Vestroia was destroyed by the Bakugan Drago he then created the Alternative Weapon System which was designed to destroy planets at the command of Zenoheld. He is the father of both Keith Fermin (Spectra Phantom) and Mira Fermin.
Biography[]
Arc 1[]
Professor Clay makes his first appearance in Mira's flashback where he refuses to talk with her about the true nature of the Bakugan she found in his laboratory which lead to Mira forming the Restance. When Mira vists him in Alpha city she asks him about Keith. Clay responds by telling her he is no more (which could mean dead) shocking Mira who calls him out on it. He later succeeds in creating the very first mechanical Bakugan. It is a Ventus Altair for the Vexos Lync Volan to test and he brawl's Mira with it. Clay told Lync to beat Mira shocking her. He plans to improve altar to make it stronger. He later analyzes a gate card from Earth with Spectra and Gus Grav telling them that the cards came from the human world and that someone is trying to cross though (which is Runo trying to see Dan).
Soon after the Vexos Shadow Prove barges into his lab and demands a mechanical Bakugan. He manages to get one for shadow by torturing Alpha Hydranoid to get info on him to create his mechanical Bakugan version which Mira and Keith witnessed earlier before the events of the show. The mechanical Bakugan version of Alpha Hydranoid was given to Shadow disguised as Hydranoid known as Hadies
When Spectra returns to New Vesroya he helps make Helios (Spectra's Bakugan) into a cyborg. He also made a few tiny mechanical Bakugan for Prince Hydron however they were stolen by Spectra so he could make Helios even stronger. Dan Kuso the main protagonist also uses those mechanical Bakugan to help make Drago stronger. during the battle between Helios and Drago, the Sky Palace fell apart which forced the Vexos and all the Vestals to leave New Vestroia including Professor Clay leaving behind his son and daughter.
Arc 2[]
Even though the royal family was exiled, Clay continues to work for the Vexos. He built Pryas Farbros for Zenoheld which he uses to brawl the Six Ancient Warriors so he can power up the BT system which kills all Bakugan. the solders escaped and gave their energy to the Brawlers.
He also makes a model of the BT system and places it on New Vestorya, shocking Shun and Skyress.
When the Restance and Spectra infiltrated the Vexos Motherpalace, he set up the Vexos Trap field which was designed to steal the Power Levels of living Bakugan and give it to the mechanical Bakugan so the Vexos always win. That resulting in the Vexos getting the Ventus and Darkus energies from Shun and Ace.
Spectra visits him and tries to convince Clay to join him in exchange for the DNA code, but he refuses. When Dan Mira and Spectra fight Hydron and Zenoheld the trap field is almost destroyed when Helios uses Twin Destructor, Helios effortlessly defeated Dryoid and almost defeated Fabros as well, but Clay decided to use a new strategy; make Fabros absorb all the energy on the field and use it to defeat Helios and Drago. This is successful and gives the Vexos the final energy they needed to activate the BT System, the Pyrus energy, but it results in Fabros's destruction.
When the BT system is activated he reports to King Zenoheld about the situation in New Vestroia. He watches angrily along with the rest of the Vexos as Drago destroyed the BT System.
Soon after he tells King Zenoheld that the Phantom Data from Nethia has been analyzed and with it, he can make the Alternative Weapon System a device that can destroy planets primarily Vestal and Earth.
Later, King Zenehold demands Clay to finish the Alternative as quickly as possible so he can destroy the Battle Brawlers. Later, when Clay returns to his lab, he finds Lync there, who asks about the AWS and tries to convince Clay to do the right thing by leaking info about the Alternative to the Brawlers. Clay is shocked by this, and asks Lync if that meant betraying King Zenoheld, where he wards that King Zenoheld has no mercy for those who betray him which is why Volt Luster got sucked into a portal. Lync responds by saying it was only joking about that, and leaves the lab, leaving Clay suspicious. He soon realizes that the data about the Alternative was copied on a flash drive, and he deduces that it was Lync having Mylene Farrow report this to King Zenoheld.
After rebuilding Fabros and making the AWS, when Spectra and Gus attack King Zenoheld, he fires the alternative on them to test it out. When the Brawlers arrive to fight the alternative, he helps King Zenoheld prepare the cannons to fire at them. He then traps Dan, Shun, Ace, and Barron in his virtual world, much to Mira's shock. She begs him to leave the Vexos saying that King Zenoheld's plan is heartless. After Dan destroys the ship, he joins Mira and Keith in leaving but soon leaves them behind, watching the Twelve Orders at war before dying in the exploding vessel.
Personality[]
Clay was the cruel lead scientist of the Vexos and is a mad scientist. Like most scientists depicted in fiction, he does not like to be bothered with his work and doesn't treat his kids right though he cares for them somewhat.
He is also shown to be fiercely loyal to King Zenoheld acting as his Right-hand. Unlike King Zenoheld however, he shows at least a tiny bit of care for the Vexos. He is stunned when Mylene's and Shadow's signal disappear. He was also scared by Shadow Prove, as seen when Shadow asks him to create a mechanical Bakugan for him.
He is shown to be quite insane, especially in his research, and refuses to leave it even at the cost of his own life. Everything he does is discovering knowledge, and he is quite willing to cross the Moral Event Horizon in order to obtain knowledge so he can create his weapons.
Triva[]
He is the first person to see the twelve orders.
