Professor Koyanagi is the secondary antagonist of the Junji Ito manga Gyo and a minor antagonist in its OVA adaptation of the same name.
He is the uncle of the manga's main protagonist, Tadashi, who is a scientist and inventor. He is one of the first people to study the Death Stench and the machines it operates, apparently knowing the backstory behind them from his father. Inspired by the research on the stench from his father while he work with the Imperial Army, as well as an accident involving one of the stench's machines latching onto his arm, Koyanagi decided to invent walkers of his own, one of which he latches the infected Kaori onto to test them. After Kaori inadvertently stabs him through the chest with one of the walker's pointed legs, Koyanagi orders to be brought to Lab #2, where he afterwards fuses himself to a flying prototype of the walkers.
Biography[]
After Tadashi and Kaori reencounter the first fish creature that they last encountered on a vacation, floating in the same bag that Tadashi sealed it in, Tadashi decides that they should both go meet their uncle to better understand the growing walking fish attacks.

Koyanagi is a tall man with long wavy black hair and a beard. He is always seen wearing a white lab coat and a tie with a striped shirt underneath.
When one of the Death Stench walkers latches onto his arm, he replaces that arm with a mechanical arm consisting of a claw.
