Project 4 is the main villainous force in the manga Area 88 and it's video game adaptation (known in the west as U.N. Squadron). The organization is comprised of multiple international military industrial complexes situated in Western Europe and North American continents.

Story[]

Project 4 is a weapons dealer organization. The group joined together to maximize their profits, but they profited so much from war that they started to incite conflicts. They have allied themselves with the Arslan Rebels, selling them illegal weapons and providing them with the resources to take over the country of Arslan, which would be the first step for them to eventually take over the world. Together, they have already taken control of various key areas of the country, now moving their forces to attack Area 88, the only spot of resistance left in their way. In order to thwart Project 4's plans, Commander Saki sends three of the best mercenaries on Area 88 to fight them.

Project 4's forces are equipped with modern fighter jets, tanks and artillery batteries, as well as new weapons never seen before. Their base is a massive flying fortress well hidden within Arslan's borders.

Fate[]

After Tandria Raid, Area 88, the mercenary organization which Project 4 thought to be destroyed, Began thwarting Project 4's plan for Middle East hegemony. To make matters worse, Pacifist organizations around the globe revealed the true nature of Project 4 and pressured constantly at world governments, forcing Project 4's sponsors to withdraw their supports of the organization.

But Project 4's miseries did not end there: Arslan Regular Armies revolted and changed sides against Project 4 and its puppet regime. With the combined forces of Area 88 and Arslan Regular Armies Project 4 was pushed out of Arslan capital. The remnant forces of Project 4 retreated to the Ippa Base, located to the west of Arslan. The leader of the organization, Kanzaki, planned to launch a nuclear missile at Arslan capital, attempting to wipe out both Area 88 and Arslan Regular Armies but that was thwarted by a traitor from within, Gailey McCovern. Before Gailey was killed by kanzaki for his betrayal, he announced and disbanded the Project 4's mercenaries by engaging their final fights above Arslan capital. Should they survive they are to flee to Turkey.

Project 4's forces (including the leader Kanzaki) was nearly wiped out during their final air battle in Arslan capital that was to be the biggest, bloodiest and costliest. But so was Area 88: Out of Area 88 pilots only two pilots survived... Shin Kazama and Kim Abba.

Although Project 4's Middle East hegemony was crushed, the organization's ultimate fate is left unknown its strongly implied they disbanded.
