There are always consequences. Take you, for instance. Someone, a long time ago, made a little decision, and then another, and then a big one, and then one of absolutely no importance. And then by and by, you were born. On that day, you were the consequence of a harmless choice made by someone in a moment where you didn't even exist. And that choice defined your whole life. You are consequence, Perry. And tonight, you are consequential.
~ Verna to Perry minutes before she takes his life.

Prospero "Perry" Usher is a supporting antagonist in the 2023 gothic horror series The Fall of the House of Usher.

He is the illegitimate and youngest child of Roderick Usher, and the first to die of his bloodline following a deal he made with Verna and his sister, Madeline Usher.

He is portrayed by Sauriyan Sapkota.

Personality[]

Perry is a hedonistic, entitled and thrill-seeking individual. He is a drug addict and has frequent sex with numerous people. He seems initially ambitious to contribute to the Usher Family's success and accomplishment, but little know-how on how to do so. He is shown to have a boundaryless vengeful side, and happy to interfere despite where inappropriate.

Biography[]

Background[]

On New Year's Eve 1980, Perry's father and aunt, Madeline Usher, made a deal with Verna guaranteeing them both unparalleled power and wealth. However, the deal was subject to the condition that any bloodline created by Roderick or Madeline would die early, but also share in their power. Despite this, due to Verna's suspiciousness, Madeline and Roderick struggle to believe their deal was legitimate, and ignore it. Eventually, Roderick had an illegitimate child with an unknown woman who births Perry. It is highly suggested that due to Perry's age, he was regularly overlooked by his elder siblings.

The Fall of the House of Usher[]

Having achieved adulthood, Perry is questioned by his father and his aunt of any possible business investments he has considered to contribute to the family's success. Perry reveals his desire to start a "nightclub". However, Madeline and Roderick are hestitant to support this due to the instability of nightclubs in business.

Nonetheless, Perry is given the backing, and reveals his desire for it to be a venue for a high-end orgy held in his name. When speaking with his eldest brother about it, Frederick, he is insulted by him. As revenge for this, Perry invites Freddy's wife, Morella, the orgy. Though initially hesitant, Morrella attends due to her unhappiness in the marriage, which Perry is aware of.

The orgy is planned such that when aiming to signal when intercourse is allowed, water will fall from showerheads to simulate rain. However, due to Perry's lack of planning, he is unaware the water tanks are used as toxic substance storage. During the party, Verna attends in an elaborate masque, and flirts with Perry. There, she describes him as a "silly boy", and leaves him alone.

When the showerheads are triggered, burning acid and chemicals pour onto the revellers, including Perry, where they are all burned to death and die from their wounds (except Morella). Verna walks through the party and sees Perry as he slowly dies. She kisses him, and places her masque on his face as a symbol of her actions.

Prospero and the other partygoers deaths are simply treated as a tragic accident. It is also revealed that Roderick was aware of the chemicals in the tanks, which were used for illegal storage.
