The Prototype Animatronics, better known as the Withered Animatronics, are supporting antagonists in the 2025 supernatural horror film Five Nights at Freddy's 2, the second installment in Universal Pictures' Five Nights at Freddy's film series based on the video game franchise of the same name.
They were a group of unfinished withered animatronics that were meant to be used for the animatronic mascots in the first Freddy Fazbear's Pizza restaurant decades ago. Within The Marionette's control, the Prototype Animatronics awaken from their slumber and kill anyone that trespass in their territory.
Portrayals[]
- Prototype Freddy was portrayed by Kevin Foster.
- Prototype Bonnie was Aidan Fisichella and Woodrow Travers.
- Prototype Chica was portrayed by Douglas Tait.
- Prototype Foxy was portrayed through puppetry by Russ Walko. who also portrayed Mangle and original Foxy in the same film series.
Appearances[]
Just like their game counterparts, they resemble very accurate from the games, and here are the bunch:
Prototype Freddy[]
Prototype Freddy has a somewhat cruder and much more dirty body, large tears on his arms and legs, visible wires connecting the robot's joints and a differently-shaped boxy head with all of his square-shaped teeth clearly visible.
Prototype Bonnie[]
Prototype Bonnie has his face scooped out, and his two red endoskeleton eyes peering out of the depression where his face used to be. He has two buttons added to his chest and is also the most damaged of all the older animatronics. His face has been gutted while his lower jaw remains, featuring more teeth than he possesses in the previous game as well as glowing red irises. His left arm is missing entirely, with a mass of wires in its place. His suit has become tattered, particularly around the legs, and a few loose wires poke out of his body. The covering on his right hand and his entire left arm has come off, revealing his endoskeleton and wires. He also seems to have a bigger stomach than before, as it looks more rounded and bigger than his upper body.
Prototype Chica[]
Prototype Chica has larger eye sockets than the real Chica herself, and she doesn't have any eyelids or eyebrows, which make her stare much more horrific than before. Her beak has been reshaped and turned into a jaw, which is completely unhinged, and she has even more teeth on her upper and lower beak. The upper part of her mask has been dislodged, and pulled up, making her eyeballs sink in, her endoskeleton's teeth more visible. She has two stumps where her hands use to be, with long wires pouring out.
Prototype Foxy[]
Prototype Foxy appears even more damaged and decayed. Like the other old animatronics, the jaw of his endoskeleton shows through his suit. One of the worst tears is near his left ear, which has been completely scratched off. Many of the rips in his original figure have grown in size. His lower torso has been almost completely stripped, revealing most of the endoskeleton. Foxy's eyelids are now no longer always drooping.
Biography[]
The Prototype Animatronics were the prototypical versions of the animatronics from the second location. Henry Emily and William Afton presumably built them in the late 1970s or early 1980s. Due to their decayed state as of 2002, they are assumed to have not been completed and thus unused. They would be left in the storage room of the original location to be used for spare parts and following the pizzeria’s closure, due to Charlotte Emily’s murder, the animatronics were left untouched for decades until the early 21st Century.
Following her awakening from her years-long slumber, the now-vengeful Charlotte, in the body of the Marionette, would take control of the Prototype Animatronics so as to kill Mike Schmidt to ensure he won’t further interfere in her goals of seeking revenge on the neglectful parents who never heeded her warnings on the day she was killed. This fails, however, when Mike successfully deactivates the wireless signal connected to the Prototype Animatronics, thus severing the Marionette’s control, deactivating them in the process. While what became of them afterwards is unknown, but that they are once again left to rot in the original Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, unable to move again.
Personality[]
The Prototype Animatronics do not possess personalities of their own, due to not being possessed by the spirits of dead children, but while they were under the Marionette’s control, they became murderous, but mindless, killing machines, who will kill anyone who trespasses into the original location and who attempt to deactivate the Toy Animatronics. They are also shown to have IQ but is limited due to their lack of sentience only because the Marionette controls their programming; Like their game counterparts, most of the Prototype Animatronics can be fooled by the Freddy Fazbear head, with the exception being Prototype Foxy, whose programming is glitched.
