Psycho-Pirate is the main antagonist of the episode of "Inside the Outsider" from the Cartoon Network show Batman: The Brave and the Bold.
He is a dangerous supervillain who abduct people and put them in a machine that will induce nightmares for him to feed off.
He was voiced by Armin Shimerman, who also played Bractor and Letek in Star Trek: The Next Generation, General Reginald Skarr in the Grim & Evil franchise, Dr. Nefarious and his remake version in the Ratchet & Clank video games and 2016 film respectively, Professor Milo in Justice League Unlimited, Emperor Sun Hai and The Keeper in Jade Empire, Andrew Ryan in the BioShock video game series and Buttonwillow McButtonwillow in Regular Show.
Synopsis[]
He abducted The Outsiders and put them in a sleeping chamber where they are experiencing their worst nightmares. Batman discovered that Psycho-Pirate was responsible for it. When Batman attempted to remove those devices from The Outsiders, Psycho-Pirates told him that removing from his or their will kill them. Batman had no choice but attach the device to himself to enter the Outsiders’ dream.
When Batman enters in Katana's dream, she is reliving her guilt of getting her master, Takahiro, killed by Takeo by revealing the dojo's location, where the special sword is housed as well. After her master’s death she took the sword and confronted Takeo, who is actually Psycho-Pirate taking take form, and encouraged it, so he can feed on her rage. Batman manages to stop her and reminds about what she’s fighting for and her silence was to honor her late master. She manages to stop herself. Psycho-Pirate take his leave in Katana's dream and enters in Black Lightning’s dream with Batman and Katana following him.
In Black Lightning’s dream, he is experiencing anger issue over him several minor everyday annoyances. Psycho-Pirate again tried to make Katana angry again, but she proved effective at controlling herself. Psycho-Pirate then makes Black Lightning use his anger by reminding of his most hated issue, a children show, Yorrick the Unicorn. Batman manages to get through Black Lightning by using happy thoughts. Psycho-Pirates escapes and head to Metamorpho's dream, and those three followed him.
In Metamorpho's nightmare, he has been holding deep resentment of being called a freak and an outcast despite his usually lighthearted and kind personality. He vents his frustration by attacking the city and its people. It is also reveals that Katana and Black Lighting were a distraction with him being an actual target by Psycho-Pirate. Batman tells Black Lightning and Katana to reason Metamorpho while he deals with the villain. When Batman attacks him, the latter allows him to so he can get stronger through his anger. Meanwhile, Black Lightning is having a difficult time reasoning him until Katana speaks and understands his pain. This allows Metamorpho to regain his sense and apologize for his anger issue.
After Batman got out of the dream machine, Psycho-Pirate vaporizes the Outsiders, much to Batman’s horror. Batman attacks Psycho-Pirates grows stronger with the former realizes that this is his dream. Psycho-Pirate arrogantly believes that he won with Batman cannot do anything about that issue. Batman proved him wrong by attacking him using happy thoughts. This weakens Psycho-Pirate as each time he getting beaten until the machine breaks, and this incapacitates him allowing Batman and the Outsiders to be free. The Outsiders will watch over him until Batman calls the authorities to arrest and send him to Arkham Asylum.
