The Puppet Master is a villain in Matt Hatter Chronicles. He is a psychotic clown who works for Lord Tenoroc.
Overview[]
Season 4[]
No Strings Attached[]
Lord Tenoroc summons the Puppet Master to control Gomez and get the Astral Map. Deciding to bait a trap, the Puppet Master plays his Harlequin Horn, creating a puppet stage. Roxanna, Gomez, and Spike arrive at Carnival City and see some of the street kids rushing. Upon hearing about a puppet show, Roxanna quickly decides to summon Matt.
Matt, Roxanna, Gomez, and Spike ride to the puppet performance, where the Puppet Master is doing a show. Spike brings one of the Puppet Master's dolls, causing Gomez to realize what is going on. Realizing that the music is distracting everyone and causing them to laugh, he shoots the Puppet Master's Harlequin Horn with pterodactyl spit to break the spell. Upon noticing that no one (apart from one lone street kid) is laughing anymore, the Puppet Master reveals himself in search of who stopped his performance. Realizing who he is dealing with, Matt tells the street kids all to flee.
Matt and Roxanna try to fight the Puppet Master, but he dodges all of their attacks. He is later contacted by Tenoroc and told to complete his mission. Matt and Roxanna rush at the Puppet Master, but he throws his gas grenades at them. Roxanna successfully knocks one away, but Matt is caught by the other and goes into a laughing fit. The Puppet Master plays his Harlequin Horn, steals Matt's breath, and puts it in a puppet, putting Matt entirely under his control. Roxanna tackles Matt, but the Puppet Master makes him shoot a blast at her. In a panic, Roxanna tells Gomez to run, but that only alerts the Puppet Master to his presence, and he gives chase.
Gomez tries to mark his trail, but Spike senses the Puppet Master's presence and starts going after him. Meanwhile, Matt is still blasting at Roxanne until she frees him from the Puppet Master's control by squishing the doll. Gomez tries to hide behind some boxes to escape, but the Puppet Master simply uses a gas grenade to put him under his control. He then forces Gomez to take him to the Keeper's Cave to seek the Astral Map.
Matt and Roxanna try to find Gomez, but are thrown off course by a Spatter Trap. Meanwhile, the Puppet Master is watching Gomez look for the Astral Map. Eventually, Gomez finds it, but the Puppet Master does not get a response when he tries to contact Tenoroc to tell of his victory. Gomez explains that Tenoroc can't see inside the Keeper's Cave. This frustrates the Puppet Master, who tells Gomez to get them out.
The Puppet Master is just about to leave when Matt jumps into the Keeper's Cave and tackles him. Matt grabs the puppet modeled after Gomez and throws it to Roxanna, who squishes it, freeing Gomez from his control. The Puppet Master leaves the Cave with the Astral Map, but Matt (who has hidden himself) pulls some strings that activate the Puppet Master's gas grenades. This sends the Puppet Master into a laughing fit and causes him to go hologram, allowing Matt to capture him.
Powers and Abilities[]
The Puppet Master has the ability to cause illusions and control people. He is also quite limber and agile, successfully dodging nearly all of the attacks of Matt and Roxanna.
Weaknesses[]
The Puppet Master is not immune to his own gas bombs and will go into a laughing fit if he is exposed to them. He is apparently not very good at comedy on his own, either, as no one laughs at his jokes when his music isn't playing.
Trivia[]
- The Puppet Master seems to be based on the Joker, as his gas grenades make people laugh uncontrollably.
