Pythor P. Chumsworth, simply known as Pythor, is one of the two secondary antagonists (alongside Harumi) of LEGO: Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu.
His first goal was to awaken the Great Devourer and end the lives of the people of Ninjago who sealed the Serpentine tribes away so he and his kind would rule above. After the Devourer's death at the hands of Lord Garmadon, Pythor instead switched to either trying to take out the Ninja on his own or joining evil groups that would further his goals.
He was voiced by Michael Dobson, who also voiced Skalidor and Morro (in Season 4: Tournament of Elements) in the same series.
Biography[]
Past[]
Pythor was born to the tribe of the Anacondrai, implicitly being an outcast for his dishonorable and cowardly ways. When the Human/Serpentine War broke out, he fought with his tribe, the Anacondrai against the humans of Ninjago, almost winning the war thanks to their ability to resist the elemental powers. Along with the rest of his tribe, Pythor was eventually locked away in the Anacondrai tomb when the Elemental Masters used the Sacred Flutes to hypnotize and drive the Serpentine underground with the Anacondrai generals banished to the Cursed Realm as punishment. Eventually, the Anacondrai were forced into cannibalism as the food in their tombs ran out, including Pythor, and enough time passed where Pythor became the only remaining Anacondrai.
Rise of the Snakes[]
Many years later, Lloyd seeks revenge after having been betrayed by both the Hypnobrai and the Fangpyre tribes. Having heard Skales identifying the Anacondrai as the most dangerous tribe of all, the would-be evil overlord Lloyd sets out for the Anacondrai Tomb in the Sea of Sand. However, when Lloyd opens the tomb, he is greeted by a roomful of skeletons. Soon after this grisly discovery, Pythor appears behind Lloyd and introduces himself, explaining that his fellow Anacondrai had all starved to death after being locked away in the tomb, thus Pythor seeks his revenge on the humans.
Pythor immediately pledges himself as Lloyd's loyal servant, claiming that he is repaying the boy for freeing him from his imprisonment. He helps Lloyd conduct several acts of mischief in Ninjago, including stealing candy, terrorizing villagers, and ignoring "keep off the grass" signs. After a day of this, the evil duo return to the Anacondrai Tomb, where Pythor learns about Lloyd's expulsion from Darkley's School for Bad Boys. He suggests that they attack the school in the morning, to pay them back for kicking Lloyd out. When Lloyd falls asleep, Pythor seeks the Map of Dens and tries to steal it since the map would lead him to the other Serpentine tombs, but he is thwarted when Lloyd rolls over and sleepily congratulates Pythor for being such an effective minion.
The next day, Lloyd and Pythor attack Darkley's, tying up the occupants and filling the building with boobytraps for the inevitable arrival of the Ninja. Unfortunately for them, the Ninja evade the traps and manage to corner them on the roof. Seeing an opportunity, Pythor suddenly grabs the Map of Dens from Lloyd's pocket, snidely mocking the would-be evil-overlord for thinking that he could lead the serpentine to safety from the humans. With that, Pythor turns invisible and makes his escape, leaving Lloyd to be apprehended by the Ninja. With the Map of Dens in his possession, Pythor begins tracking down the tombs of the remaining Serpentine tribes. His first stop is the Mountain of a Million Steps, where he releases the Constrictai from their tomb. Pythor takes most of the Constrictai with him, but he has General Skalidor stay behind to ambush the Ninja when they investigate the tomb.
With that trap set, Pythor heads for the Toxic Bogs to release the Venomari tribe. After opening the Venomari Tomb and freeing the forces of General Acidicus, he has his new followers take cover in the bog and wait for the Ninja's arrival. Pythor himself hides deep within the Venomari Tomb, emerging to taunt Jay after Kai had been afflicted with Venomari Venom.
Before the Serpentine can attack, Cole and Zane arrive to back up their friends. When the latter attempts to neutralize the snakes with the Sacred Flute, Pythor snatches the artifact from his hands. With the flute in his possession and the Ninja surrounded, Pythor eagerly watches the Constrictai and Venomari forces back their foes onto a small log in a pool of acidic ooze. Unfortunately, the Samurai arrives to save the Ninja and drive off the snakes, with Pythor being poked in the back with a dart as he flees.
Although his foes eluded him, Pythor proceeds with his true goals; gathering the Serpentine tribes in the Ninjago City's subway tunnels. He then digs with his trusted evil follower Skales to find the lost city Ourboros and then tells Skales that if he would succeed with his plan he will make him right-hand of all Serpentine tribes. Skales agrees due to his attempt to betray later and destroy Ninjago. He then offers the Serpentine to give him trust and let him rule them in order to unleash the Great Devourer.
Pythor then realizes Lloyd is spying after him as a serpent, so he captures Lloyd and keeps him as a hostage. Taking advantage of his new prisoner, Pythor is able to lure the Ninja to Ouroboros. Trapping the Ninja and stealing their Golden Weapons, Pythor forces them to battle Samurai X, who he had captured earlier. Unfortunately, the Samurai comes up with a plan to help them all escape, sending the Ninja flying out of the arena with the Samurai Mech. Pythor attempts to stop the Samurai with his Serpentine minions, but the mysterious warrior snatches the Golden Weapons and escapes with a jetpack.
Pythor then begins his search to find the four Fangblades but his fellow Generals also begin to losing faith in him as they talk about his failed attempts and start wondering if his plans are even possible. However, during a sissy fight between Skalidor and Acidicus, Pythor notices the venom dripping from their staffs. He notices that they mixed together, realizing the legend never spoke of the five tribes, but the venom in the staffs. After they all drip on a piece of paper Pythor found, it reveals the locations of the Fangblades. Everyone cheers as Pythor states the Great Devourer will be reawakened and Ninjago will belong to the Serpentine.
The Serpentine discover the first Fangblade's location, which is located in the Mega Monster Amusement Park. The snakes fit in quite nicely due to their monster-like appearance which makes the people there mistake them for park employees. Pythor and the other Serpentine begin searching for the first Fangblade but are unaware that the Ninja had snuck into the park. Pythor soon discovers Samurai X's identity to be Nya after unmasking her. Pythor tries to execute her on a roller-coaster but she is saved by Jay. The ninja discover the Serpentine excavating the first Fangblade and try to stop them bit their plan fails due to Zane accidentally freezing them, but not the Serpentine. Pythor and his fellow Serpentine then escape with the first Fangblade.
Pythor and the other Serpentine and their hostage Lloyd search for the second Fangblade in a temple but Lloyd discovers that the Fangblade has been stolen by an archaeologist. They later discover that the Fangblade is under the disguise of the "Blade Cup" so the Serpentine go to a singing competition building. Pythor and the other Serpentine disguise themselves as people in the audience. Pythor disguises himself as a judge, though the disguise is nearly breached several times. The Ninja arrive to get the Fangblade and end up auditioning for it. Pythor sends his minions to stop them onstage but the Ninja defeat them during the performance. The Ninja gain the second Fangblade for wining the competition but the Serpentine end up stealing it back after distracting the four Ninja. Pythor once again escapes with the Fangblade.
With Lloyd as their hostage, the Serpentine discover that the third Fangblade is located at the Fire Temple. Pythor uncovers the Fangblade, but is interrupted by Lord Garmadon and the Ninja. Lord Garmadon fights off Pythor's forces while Pythor attempts to grab the Fangblade. Fortunately, Kai recklessly uses his Golden Weapon to impale the Fangblade to a nearby cave wall. Kai then attacks Pythor in an attempt to reclaim the Fangblade but is warned by Skales to leave before the Temple collapses due to its overflowing lava. Pythor nearly abandons his expedition but sees the Fangblade floating through the lava so he and his minions reclaim the blade and flee.
Pythor then orders the Serpentine to connect all of the tombs into one underground fortress. Pythor, having recently gathered all of the Fangblades, prepares his tribe for the Great Devourer's awakening. During an attack on the fortress from the ninja, Pythor has carefully set a trap that captures them. The ninja get put in a cage, displayed to the Serpentine tribes. During a speech, Pythor is interrupted by his generals, and orders a Slither Pit to settle any disputes and as a celebration for the Devourer's awaking. Kai attempts escape but is spotted by Pythor and his minions. Lloyd, now revealed to be the Green Ninja, tries to attack the Serpentine, but fails. Lloyd confronts Pythor only to be laughed at. But then, Lord Garmadon arrives with the Skulkin Army and attacks the Serpentine base. Lloyd saves the ninja and they join in the fighting and successfully steal the Fangblades from Pythor. However, Pythor followed them to Destiny's Bounty.
After arriving on the ship, Pythor turns invisible and enters the training room while Lloyd is practicing; Pythor quickly tying Lloyd Garmadon to a pole and leaving him, then sabotages the generator keeping the ship in the air, causing Sensei Wu to nearly fall off the ship but the ninja manage to catch him while dangling off the deck. Pythor notices this and attempts to make them fall but Lloyd escapes his confinement and alerts the ninja of Pythor's presence. Pythor then escapes on a Rattlecopter with Skales after which the two hijack a tour bus to go to The Lost City of Ouroboros. The ninja follow and the several Fangpyre quickly turns the bus into a snake-like vehicle with their venom.
While the Serpentine battles the ninja in the bus, Sensei Wu detaches the engine room from the rest of the bus and continues on. Sensei Wu attacks Pythor and causes the bus to crash into Ouroboros bit Pythor escapes the wreckage and puts the Fangblades into the Great Devourer statue's mouth. However, Pythor discovers The Great Devourer is underneath him and he has no control over it. Sensei Wu arrives and tells him of his mistake, the Great Devourer eat the Serpentine as well but Pythor doesn't listen. He is later horrified while discovering the devourer's real size. Pythor attempts to escape but Sensei Wu grabs him and the two get into a fierce struggle. However, the Devourer erupts from the ground and lunges at the two.
Unable to escape due to Sensei Wu's efforts, they are both consumed by the Great Devourer. Pythor also manages to escape the Great Devourer, but Pythor falls into some stomach acid, resulting in his purple scales turning white, and his voice being altered. Somehow, he survives digestion and escapes after Lord Garmadon kills the Great Devourer and it explodes which causes him to go into hiding for at least a year.
Rebooted[]
A year after Lloyd defeats The Overlord and New Ninjago City were built, Pythor decides to plan his revenge on the humans. He discovers that the Overlord is still alive as a digital virus. After the power in New Ninjago City is shut down, Pythor, disguised as a hooded figure known as the Stranger, grabs the Hard Drive that contained the Overlord, and takes it to his secret hideout. He then reactivates the hard drive after which Pythor offers his assistance towards the Overlord. He first sends a mechanically modified version of Sensei Wu to attack the ninjas. Later, he reveals himself as Pythor to Lloyd Garmadon, telling him about his fate and his evil plan. He starts supporting the golden master in order to get his revenge on the Ninja and rule Ninjago alongside his master. He aids the Overlord in creating a new physical body as the "Golden Master", eventually succeeding and accompanying the Dark Lord in his rampage takeover of the City.
However, his plans are foiled when he swallows a shrinking pill meant for the Overlord, getting chased away by Zane's falcon. He is eventually caught and sent to Kryptarium prison for his crimes in his small form, getting locked up in a small toy house inside of his cell.
The Tournament of Elements[]
A year later, after Master Chen turns himself and his cult into Anacondrai, the Ninja go to Pythor in Kryptarium Prison to consult the final surviving Anacondrai. Pythor surprisingly enough willingly turns into an ally, as thanks to Lloyd he learns about both Chen and Clouse's plan to become fake Anacondrai. He is captured by Chen, and believes the Ninja to have double-crossed him, before having his essence extracted through a torturous session for Chen's spell. However, Garmadon, disguised as a news reporter on the radio, tells Pythor that, in order to stop Chen, he has to call for the ninja's help and aid them in the Corridor of Elders. Determined to make Chen pay, Pythor quickly thinks up a escape plan and with the help of a Swamp Rat, initially used to torment him so Chen could extract his essence, that he takes as a pet and named "Rodrigo", taking Chen's spellbook on his tiny hands and making his way to the Corridor.
Once there, Pythor then tells Lloyd to bring him and the spell book to the ninjas so they can use its contents to find a way to thwart Chen's plan, save Ninjago and for him to become big again. He then tells Garmadon that the might of a true Anacondrai can stop Chen and his goons who prove unstoppable. Garmadon then banished himself into the realm to free the Anacondrai generals from their prison as an exchange, an act that shocked even Pythor, and allowing them to curse Chen's army and trap them in the Cursed Realm as well. Once the Anacondrai general thanks everyone for helping them bring Chen to justice, Pythor included, the snake is glad to receive praise at last for saving Ninjago, claiming that anyone can change, and become big again thanks to Arcturus' magic as his reward. Later, he is seen cheering on the Destiny's Bounty, together with the ninja, for what he had done.
Day of the Departed[]
Unfortunately, Pythor falls back to his villainous ways around the Day of the Departed and teams up with Sensei Yang and the other departed villains to destroy the ninja. He tries to kill Lloyd, figuring that since he had helped take out Garmadon, it would only be fitting to kill his son and presumably Garmadon's wife, Misako, while at it, only to be bested and cornered, forcing him to jump off a cliff to escape. He survives, albeit injured and crawls away; groaning that next time he should take his own advice and recruit some sidekicks.
Crystalized[]
Sometime after the defeat of Kalmaar, Pythor is captured by the New Ninja, a newly-made team of superheroes out to supplant the pre-established Ninja, and imprisoned in Kryptarium Prison once more, eventually learning of a new villain known as the Crystal King who has been recruiting other villains into his fold. When the Ninja themselves are arrested, Pythor "greets" them in the prison yard with all due intention to take revenge, provoking them into a food fight before the guards take him away. While he's asleep, the Kabuki Mask sends their Crystal Spiders to break out and recruit him into the Crystal King's Council, and he gladly takes the chance and mocks the Ninja as he escapes to become part of the Crystal Army.
Later on, Pythor meets up with the other members of the Crystal King's council taking his time at being amused by Aspheera's single-minded obsession with revenge before discovering that the "Mechanic" that had joined their group was actually Lloyd in disguise. Pythor tries to catch Lloyd when the latter tries to escape and constricts him but is thwarted by the ninja's Spinjitzu and knocked aside, only for Mr. F to successfully shoot Lloyd. When Kabuki Mask reveals themselves to be Harumi, Pythor can be seen grinning sadistically at the sight of Lloyd's barely conscious body as the Council takes him prisoner. But Lloyd eventually escape while the Council use the Golden Weapons to gain the Crystal King a physical form. Eventually, Jay is able to defeat Pythor using his newly found dragon form and reclaim his golden nun-chucks.
After the Overlord is defeated, Pythor is sent back to Kryptarium Prison for his crimes with the rest of the council.
Appearance[]
Unlike most Serpentine, Pythor has a very long and curving neck. At full height, he is approximately twice as tall as a regular character, making him look even more snake-like than his brethren. His skin is purple, with black markings along his chest and forehead and light blue gems on his head and chest. Like the other Serpentine Generals, Pythor has a long tail instead of legs. However, even among his own Anacondrai brethren, Pythor's more defined face, lengthened neck, and longer body are unique. Why this is the case is never explained.
His skin is later turned white and his black markings turned purple as a result of being digested by the Great Devourer; he also wears white robes to hide his long neck.
Personality[]
Pythor is a rather manipulative, cunning, intelligent, and ruthless individual. He has no qualms about manipulating Lloyd, a mere child, into thinking they were friends, only using him to take the map with the locations of the Serpentine tombs. He is also willing to play dirty, as seen when he fights the other Serpentine generals for their staffs and their leadership and uses the Sacred Flute.
He is extremely selfish and doesn't care about anyone, but himself. He was even willing to eat all of his own people just to survive. Manipulating the serpentine to help him achieve his own goals of using the Great Devourer to rule Ninjago and get revenge on the humans. He makes his minions fight for him to save himself not caring what happens to them. This also shows how cowardly he is. Not going into a fight himself unless he absolutely needs to. And when he sees that the fight is not going his way he cowers and runs away screaming and quivering. Doing everything in his power to get away.
As he collects all of the Fang Blades and prepares to unleash the Great Devourer, he reveals his sense of hatred against the human of Ninjago, blaming them for imprisoning the Anacondrai and the rest of the Serpentine and believing that the only way to exact vengeance was by unleashing the Great Devourer. This shows some sense of kinship towards his fellow Serpentine.
Even though he is rather despicable, he has shown a more honorable side and loyalty towards his kind. This is seen when he viewed Chen's army as imposters and was disgusted by their actions. Additionally, he revealed that while the ninja believed the Anacondrai betrayed the humans, the Anacondrai were actually tricked into believing the humans would attack first, so they attacked as their last choice. Because of this, he put aside his previous rivalry with the ninja and told them about a spell that could summon the spirits of the Anacondrai Generals, who would certainly be disgusted by Chen's army as much as Pythor was. This honorable nature was noted by General Arcturus, who rewarded him by returning Pythor to his original size.
Alas, at his heart, Pythor still has a lust for power and revenge, and he sadly was shown to have gone back to his old evil ways, as he tries to kill Lloyd and teams up with all of of the ninja's previous villains. Later on, in Season 15: Crystalized, he joins the Crystal Army as one of its generals alongside fellow villains Mister F, Aspheera, Vangelis and Harumi.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Strength: Pythor P. Chumsworth is stronger than the other Serpentine, being strong enough to fight off the other five Serpentine Generals even when they pushed him back.
- Durability: Pythor has demonstrated an incredible ability to return, surviving the Great Devourer's stomach acids in good health and surviving plunging down a cliff in "Day of the Departed."
- Expandable Jaw: Pythor's jaws can extend greatly, allowing him to swallow a human alive, although his victims can still try to break out.
- Tactical Skills: Pythor is a very skilled tactician, leading the Serpentine in a successful war against the Ninja that led to the emergence of the Great Devourer.
- Leadership: Pythor is a very good leader, being an effective leader of the Serpentine during his stint as the King.
- Hand to Hand Combat: Although he was often reluctant to fight, Pythor has fought off large groups of enemies with ease; being able to land several punches, tail whips, and his Serpentine staff to fight.
- Dirty Tactics: If overwhelmed fairly, Pythor will pull out dirty tricks and sabotage to overcome his opposition such as sweeping out their feet with his tail and blinding them with the Sun.
- Invisibility: Pythor can turn invisible at will as his scales can become completely translucent.
- Heat Resistance: It is implied that Pythor is immune to fire due to Anacondrai's hides being thick enough to withstand powerful heat.
- Elemental Resistance: Pythor has an innate resistance to elemental powers from the Ninja and their allies thanks to being an Anacondrai.
Weaknesses[]
- Lack of Foresight: Pythor's primary weakness is his shortsightedness and overconfidence which led to critical mistakes such as when he overestimated his control over the Great Devourer.
- Limited Hand to Hand Combat Skill: Despite being an Anacondrai, he does not seem to possess the same level of hand-to-hand combat abilities of his brethren, as he rarely engages in combat himself and only does so when left with no other choice.
Arsenal[]
- Anacondrai Staff: Pythor's primary weapon in battle is the Serpentine General Staff of the Anacondrai Tribe.
- Fists: Even when unarmed, Pythor is a skilled fighter with his fists who can overwhelm the other four Serpentine Generals single handedly.
- Bow: After Techno Wu was subdued with a magnet, Pythor freed him with an arrow from a red bow.
- Bone: During the assault on Borg Tower, Pythor wielded a large bone as his weapon.
- Naginata: During the raid on the Monastery of Spinjitzu, Pythor wielded a naginata.
- Nunchucks of Lightning: Pythor stole the Nunchucks of Lightning from the Monastery of Spinjitzu when the Crystal Council raided it. The Nunchucks were later corrupted by The Overlord and became Pythor's new weapon. After Jay defeated him, the Nunchucks were purified and reclaimed by him.

Trivia[]
- Curiously, Pythor is physically different from other Anacondrai. According to Tommy Andreasen, there is "no canon explanation" for this and it is "just new production."
- According to Tommy Andreasen, the fact that Pythor released the Great Devourer is not common knowledge in Ninjago, which might explain why Harumi had no problem working alongside him in Season 15: Crystalized.
- According to Tommy Andreasen, the Overlord would possibly have gotten rid of or betrayed Pythor eventually, as he did with Garmadon.
- Despite his minifigure retaining his eyeliner and details across his body in all sets he's appeared in, the show's depiction of Pythor has him lose some of his details in seasons following Tournament of the Elements such as the aforementioned eyeliner which is noticeably removed in Crystalized, leading to a notable difference in design. The reason behind these differences is unknown.
