~ The opening prologue during the fight between Pythus and an Enderknight. |
Pythus is a minor overarching antagonist of the animated web series, Songs of War.
He is Netheran who is the youngest son of King Chronos and the brother of Vulcannus. He is the tyrannical prince of the Nether, a powerful leader who slayed many warriors in the Great War.
Appearance[]
He is a Netheran, a race of humanoids native to the hellish Nether dimension, recognizable by their bright lava-colored patterns on their dark armor. He wields a double-sided iron axe with a dent on one side, suggesting that he had fought in many battles.
Personality[]
Not much is known about his personality due to his limited screen time. During the scene when the Deathsinger approached King Chronos, Pythus stood next to the latter's throne, meaning he had a position of royalty. He also is shown to be an incredibly skilled fighter, as shown when he single-handedly defeated a legendary Enderknight in a duel.

Trivia[]
- Despite having very minimal appearances in Season 1, he was planned to have a much bigger role in the next two. In fact, he was even supposed to be the main antagonist of the series, overtaking the Deathsinger. A lot more of his personality and character would have shown had Songs or War not been cancelled.
- He would be extremely aggressive and unhinged, often taking anger out on his own minions. Despite displaying clear signs of strength, he can show significant fear, especially when Ingressus threatened him.
- He would have murdered his father in disappointment for retreating back into the Nether during the Great War. He then crowned himself as the king of the Nether.
- Pythus's brother, Vulcannus, would have actually been the rightful ruler of the Nether, since the latter was able to wield both the Nether and Ender blades.
- His small appearances foreshadowed how big of a threat he was and a much larger presence in the coming seasons. This is especially true for Abbigail's dream sequence, where Pythus slowly approached her, spreading the Nether into the End.
- He had no lines in Season 1.
