Qadim is a supporting antagonist and boss in the Guild Wars 2 raid series. Once a powerful and ambitious fire djinn, Qadim eventually becomes a corrupted godlike being bent on restoring the elemental hierarchy of Tyria by force, placing elementals above all other forms of life.

Driven by a radical belief in elemental supremacy, Qadim seeks to usurp balance across the world, gathering and forcibly binding powerful entities into servitude to enact his will. His arrogance, destructive magic, and disregard for life make him one of the most dangerous and memorable raid villains in Guild Wars 2.

Biography[]

Qadim was once a respected fire djinn, existing among the ranks of elemental beings who govern and protect balance in Tyria. Over time, however, he grew increasingly disillusioned with what he perceived as the weakness of balance and the supremacy given to mortal races who, in his eyes, squandered power and corrupted nature.

Determined to restore the so-called rightful order, Qadim began enslaving other elementals and magical beings, including legendary creatures, to fuel his agenda. He constructed the Mythwright Gambit, a massive floating foundry in the Mists, where he forged new magic constructs and imprisoned powerful creatures to serve his cause.

When the raiders—assisted by the djinn Zommoros—enter the Mythwright Gambit, Qadim unleashes a gauntlet of chaos in an attempt to overwhelm them. After a harrowing confrontation, Qadim is defeated, but he escapes, severely wounded.

Not content to fall quietly, Qadim returns stronger and more dangerous in The Key of Ahdashim, where he invades the sacred djinn city of Ahdashim. Corrupted by raw magic and increasingly unstable, Qadim absorbs even more power and becomes Qadim the Peerless, a monstrous fusion of djinn, magic, and elemental wrath. His goal: to become a living embodiment of elemental dominance and crush all resistance.

He is ultimately defeated by the raiders in Ahdashim’s sanctum, marking the end of his destructive campaign—but not before threatening the very foundations of elemental harmony in Tyria.

Personality[]

Qadim is arrogant, power-hungry, and self-righteous. He sees himself not as a villain, but as a visionary, correcting the "imbalances" of existence. His disdain for mortals is matched only by his cruelty toward fellow djinn who oppose him. As he descends deeper into corruption, Qadim becomes increasingly volatile, his ideology warping into full-blown megalomania.

Notable Acts[]

  • Created the Mythwright Gambit, a magical forge of enslavement and transformation
  • Attempted to enslave legendary creatures such as Nikare and Kenut
