The Queen Bee is the main antagonist of the first episode of Wallace and Gromit's Grand Adventures, Fright of the Bumblebees.

She is the queen of the Bees who grows due to the effects of Wallace's growth formula.

Appearance[]

The Queen Bee is a thick giant bee with female type purple glasses and huge makeup with her fangs and a normal crown, with a neck ruffle and ruffles around her rear legs.

History[]

While the Queen Bee kidnapped Wallace for ruining the bumblebees’ plans to rule West Wallaby Street, Wallace expresses that the Queen Bee is trying to turn Wallace into royal jelly, and is ungrateful after all that Wallace had done for her: building a hive for her made from brass and making a Magnetronic Pollinator to take all the hard work out of honey making. He then expresses regret for having mixed his batch of Rex Armstrong’s Quik-Grow Muscle Formula, deciding to “chuck it away”. As he attempts to do so, however, the Queen angrily squeezes Wallace harder. As Wallace attempts to calm her down, attempting to convince her to put him down, she simply drops Wallace, only to grab him as he is about to reach the pavement. Left with no other options, he screams for help and calls out for Gromit, who immediately appears in the honey delivery truck, giving chase as the queen flies with Wallace in tow throughout the British countryside. Wallace then instructs Gromit to raise the ladder. At this, Gromit takes the winch from the glovebox and then presses a button, opening the sunroof, before activating the autopilot, allowing Gromit to access the roof. He then connects the winch to its housing, before cranking it, raising the ladder. As Wallace reaches for the ladder, however, the truck crashes through a barn, bending the ladder out of shape, and a chicken is stuck on the windshield. Wallace Then muses that the ladder is broken and he had left the spare at home. Gromit then activates the windshield wipers, causing the chicken to be sent flying, leaving a lone feather behind. Gromit then climbs to the roof, reaching for the feather and then grabbing it. Gromit then climbs the damaged ladder and tickles the Queen Bee with the feather, causing her to burst out laughing, distracting her long enough to drop Wallace, who lands on the truck, causing the ladder to bend back into its housing, before landing in the cab of the truck, damaging the autopilot in the process. He then commends Gromit on his efforts, before worrying he may have disappeared, before realizing he is still on the roof, after peering through the rear view scope. He checks on Gromit’s condition, as Gromit confirms that he is all right with a hearty thumbs up, much to Wallace’s relief, only to realize that the autopilot is broken, startling him into regaining control of the truck. Suddenly, the Queen Bee starts bearing down on Gromit as the pair drive into a tunnel, with the Queen Bee in hot pursuit. Wallace instructs Gromit to keep the bee at bay as Wallace attempts to lose her. Gromit then activates the truck’s honey gun to hold her off, but no matter how many times Gromit shot at her, she shook it off and continued her pursuit. Wallace turned on the radio in the truck, noting the Queen Bee’s reactions. He then turned it to a comedy radio station, causing the Queen Bee to burst out laughing again. He then mixes the remains of the aforementioned growth formula into the tanker of the truck, while using his leg to steady the steering wheel, as to not crash the truck. After mixing the formula, he then regains control of the truck and then signals for Gromit to shoot honey at her again. As the Queen Bee bursts out laughing again, Gromit shoots the mixed honey into her mouth, causing her to grow larger than she was. As she begins to overwhelm Gromit, the truck exits the tunnel, causing the Queen Bee to get stuck in the tunnel’s exit due to her increased size, effectively subduing her. Wallace then pulls the truck over and commends Gromit on his teamwork. The Queen bee is then seen leashed by the neck in Wallace’s yard to discourage her from trying anything again while Wallace worked on an antidote to the growth formula, which he succeeds in doing. Unfortunately, he had used it on himself, causing him to shrink. Wallace and Gromit presumably rectified this and shrunk the Queen Bee and the rest of the bees down to size.
