Queen Goblin is a supervillain and major antagonist in the Spider-Man comics. A clone of Ravencroft Institute head Dr. Ashley Kafka, who had been murdered by the villain Massacre years prior, created by Norman Osborn with The Jackal's cloning pods, she was made Osborn's new assistant after he regained his sanity and tried to reclaim Oscorp. However, Osborn and Kafka would come under attack by the supernatural Sin-Eater, once the cop-turned-serial killer Stan Carter, in Ravencroft, where he seized Osborn and absorbed the sins and memories of his inumberable wrongdoings as both the Green Goblin and Iron Patriot, effectively absolving him and making him a new man.
Following this, the cloned Kafka would be taken captive by the nefarious megacorp Beyond and be experimented on under behalf of CEO Maxine Danger, utilizing both a new strain of the Goblin Serum mixed with the metaphysical psychic energies of Osborn's malice extracted from Sin Eater, transforming her into a red-skinned scaly gold-and-black armored goblin-esque woman with the psychic ability to force people to relive their worst failures and fall into despair over them, also utilizing a black spiked-flail-mace with jack o'lantern faces adoring the heads. With Osborn a new man who sought to atone for his long-history of crimes, Kafka became the Queen Goblin as Spider-Man's new Goblin-centric villain. She would be the secondary antagonist of the Spider-Man Beyond storyline and later team-up with Chasm, a now amnesiac and corrupted Ben Reilly, also having been exploited and marred by Beyond, against Spider-Man as the main villains of the Dark Web event.
Biography[]
Dr. Ashley Kafka was the founder and head therapist at Ravencroft Institute. She'd been a longtime friend and ally of Spider-Man since she studied at Empire State University as a psychiatrist. Throughout her career, she had treated several supervillains, Venom, Carnage, and Shriek chief amongst them. Eddie Brock, Venom's human host, would eventually fall in love with Ashley as she was able to get through to him best of all. However, after Cletus Kasady, Carnage's human host, would break out time and time again, Eddie would end up discarding his progress to move past being Venom, regretfully abandoning Ashley, who solemnly would mourn this, especially as the symbiote became more domineering and aggressively possessive, as Eddie had contracted cancer and it saw him no longer as a partner and only a source of sustenance, eventually rendering him comatose and taking full control. Eventually, Eddie regained control and finally separated with the psychotic symbiote and his cancer went into it's terminal stages. The symbiote would find new hosts in both Angelo Fortunato and later Mac Gargan, the former Scorpion. While he was admitted in hospice care, Ashley would once again visit the dying Eddie in therapy sessions, as Brock was plagued with homicidal delusions of Venom urging him to kill an also dying May Parker, who was comatose from a mortal gunshot wound. With her help, Eddie was able to make peace with his demons. However, humanitarian Martin Li, secretly the supervillain Mister Negative, would offer his services to help treat Brock's cancer, secretly using his polarity inversion powers to cure the malignant cancer cells, slowly but effectively curing Brock of his cancer. He would offer a gracious Brock a job at his homeless shelter F.E.A.S.T. in the soup kitchens, however, they would come under siege by Norman Osborn, now Director of H.A.M.M.E.R. and leader of the Dark Avengers (secretly the villainous Thunderbolts posing as veteran Avengers), operating as the false hero Iron Patriot. Hunting down a currently branded-fugitive Spider-Man, Gargan, now Venom, would attack the F.E.A.S.T. shelter in an attempt to either apprehend or kill Spidey, Brock would come to his defense and, due to the Venom Symbiote desiring him once again and coming into contact, the latent energies from Negative's powers reacted with the sample of the symbiote, forming a new white colored mindless symbiotic suit around Brock and granting him healing powers. Now christened Anti-Venom, he viciously attacked Gargan/Venom and began attempting to cure him of the symbiote, almost destroying it, before Gargan retreated. Reconciling after their long rivalry, Spider-Man and Anti-Venom attempting to confront Osborn and the Dark Avengers, but were met by Gargan, now wearing a new model of his old Scorpion armor enhanced by the recovering symbiote, and would inject Anti-Venom with an extremely powerful toxin that almost destroyed Brock's suit in kind. Now poised to finish Brock off, Spider-Man would defend Brock, while the Venom Symbiote would have a change of heart and attempt to stop Gargan from dealing the killing blow, bursting out of his armor and restraining him, while Spidey and Osborn, now as the Green Goblin, brawled with Songbird and Bullseye backing him. The battle would eventually collapse the Oscorp facility, with Songbird telling Peter that they would officially announce him having died in the rubble, hinting that he should lay low for the time being. Meanwhile, Brock had escaped, also laying low as his Anti-Venom suit reformed.
Sometime later, after Peter Parker and Otto Octavius had swapped consciousnesses/souls via a specialized Octobot, Octavius settled that his ultimate vengeance on Spider-Man would be leaving the hero to die in his own cancer-ridden body while he lived on in his as Spider-Man. However Peter, unwilling to allow Octavius to steal his life, he reluctantly utilized Then a clone was created by Jackal who was Ben Reilly during the events of Dead No More: The Clone Conspiracy and after this Kafka clone died a second clone was created by Ben who would go onto serving Beyond corporation. She was just like her original counterpart in helping people through therapy but Maxine had other plans by having The sins of Norman Osborn inside of her and thus transformed her into the Queen Goblin a red demonic goblin with magic powers. She would have no memory of her previous life as Kafka but she would want to go after Norman Osborn due to her being the manifestation of his sins merged into her being. She would later attack Janine Goodbe and Mary Jane Watson introducing herself to them and later attacking Ben Reilly who was suffering due to Beyond's actions. Peter would later show up and team up with Ben to take her down but she manage to survive and escape. During this point She would later brainwash Roderick Kingsley, the original Hobgoblin, to do her bidding like forcing Norman Osborn into his goblin persona again and attacking Spider-Man with Ned Leeds.
