RPC-979, also known as Arachkids, are minor antagonists of the RPC Authority mythos. They are a group of unidentified spider species that are located in South East Asia, who hunt by seeking out children. Any sighting of RPC-979 specimen must and their nest must be found and burned by flamethrower units, and the family members of RPC-979 victims to be made to believe that the victim never existed at all.
Description[]
RPC-979 are a species of spider locating in South East Asia, being related to the brown widow species of spiders. Each RPC-979 instance has the average length of 120cm, with the highest being 150cm and the shortest being 90cm. All instances have skin resembling that of Caucasians and six eyes, but rely on touch and vibration to see. By far one of the most noticeable features on all RPC-979 instances is the face of a human child located on the abdomen (which is capable of movement, speech, and making expressions) and human hands on the end of their hind legs. RPC-979 goes hunting during feeding session at 12:00pm each day, hunting mainly human children and (if needed) small animals. To do this, RPC-979 can disguise itself as a small child, wearing the clothes of its victims and using the fur of dead animals for hair. Once this process of camouflage is complete, RPC-979 would stand on it's hind legs and head to nearby towns to make a nest in a secluded area. Once the nest is built, RPC-979 instances would stay at the edges of town, using telepathy to learn the interests of children in order to best appeal to them. After three weeks, the spider will lure their prey into their nest, paralyze them with neurotoxin, and ensnare the target in webbing, rendering them helpless before their hunger.
Containment Protocol[]
The Authority has only captured 3 RPC-979 instances, containing them in a standard 6m x 6m x 6m anomalous fauna containment chamber at Site-279. They are fed 7 live house mice each day at 12:00 PM. Any sighting of RPC-979 instances that are out in the wild will result in the Authority to dispatch MST Tango-17 Peter Parkers to find the nest in order to incinerate it and any RPC-979 instances nearby. After this, the families of those killed by the beasts are made to forget about them entirely.
