Rain is a minor antagonist in Mortal Kombat 1, and a more malicious counterpart to the other versions of Rain, and is an unplayable character in Shang Tsung's chapter.
Like his counterparts, he is voiced by Norshir Dalal.
In Titan Shang Tsung's New Era, he resurrected Rain and transformed him into a demi-god devoid of redeeming qualities, who now serves as his loyal subordinate. Dark Rain and Smoke confront the New Era's Raiden, Shang Tsung and Quan Chi while they were attempting to destroy portals to prevent their invasion. He blocks the Deadly Alliance in a water wall, before Smoke and him attack them, with Rain knocking down Quan Chi, but were prevented from finishing them by Raiden. In a subsequent duel, Dark Rain and Smoke were killed by the Deadly Alliance. During the battle of Armageddon, various versions of Rain feature among the Order of Darkness, such as Sento Storm.
Khaos Reigns[]
In the DLC Khaos Reigns, as well as the heroic Emperor Rain, an alternate Rain serves as a member of Titan Havik's Brotherhood of Chaos. Along with Khaos Raiden, Kung Lao, Johnny Cage, Liu Kang and Noob Saibot, he serves as a guardian of Havik's Citadel. When Empress Tanya and her allies breached the Citadel, Rain and Kung Lao battled the interlopers before they were knocked back by Tanya. Right after, they battled Tanya and Cyrax, but were defeated.
