The Rainbow Friends are the titular main antagonists of the Roblox horror-game of the same name.
In the past, they used to be the mascots of the Rainbow Friends Company, appearing in a TV Series, a Theme park and merchandise in the 1990s before it was abandoned for unknown reasons. Later on, the Rainbow Friends became feral and savage, now wandering the abandoned facilities.
Known Members[]
The Scientist[]
A scientist that guides the players to complete tasks in the span of five nights. He remains unseen until the finale of Chapter 1, where his full appearence is shown. During Chapter 2, he activly tries to stop the players from escaping Odd World.
Blue[]
A giant, blue humanoid who wears a crown, and is always seen with one eye, drooling. He will wander around the facility and chase the player if he sees them. However, he won't detect them if they are in a box, not even when said box is moving, making him the least intelligent of the Rainbow Friends.
Green[]
A giant but thin humanoid monster. He is blind (according to the Scientist) and would occasionally wander around the facility. He is not fooled by boxes, so running into him results in death. He is an antagonist on Night 2 onward.
Orange[]
A small, reptilian-like monster, he is the most aggressive of the Rainbow Friends and will run around the facility in a fit of rage if the player/s doesn't feed him on time. However, he won't harm you if you do feed him properly. He first appears at the end of Night 2, and is an antagonist on Night 3 onward.
Purple[]
A thin-armed monster that lives in the vents and is also the most enigmatic of the Rainbow Friends. Not much is known about its actual appearance and gender. If the player steps on puddles by the vent it is in, even if they are in a box, Purple will drag the player into the vent to kill them. It is an antagonist from Night 3 onward. It also appears in Chapter 2, where it is roaming it's lair for players. Similar to Chapter 1, it will pull down players above it, regardless if they have their box on or not.
Pink[]
An alien-like monster that has no arms. Not much is known about its function in-game, since its model is unused. What is known though that it was seemingly supposed to "spit" on the player.
Yellow[]
A yellow Pterodactyl-like Rainbow Friend. He functions similar to Blue, only that he will pick up the player and starts to fly with the help of his rotor. To survive, the player has to land on a bouncy castle. If they don't reach the bouncy castle, or fail to jump, they're taken to a nest where Yellow would kill them.
Cyan[]
A cyan-colored magnet-shaped and dinosaur-like Rainbow Friend with no arms and has eyes that are similar shape to Orange's ones. She functions similar to Blue and Yellow. Whats special about her is that she can see players hiding in their box when they're moving. Three lightning bolt symbols appear above the players head while beeing watched by her. If the player moves around too long while she's watching him, she starts to chase the players.
Lookies[]
They are colorful round creatures with large cute eyes that closely resemble to that of The Scientists. The player is tasked by the Scientist to collect ten of them so he can let go of the Technician, who is held captive. A giant blue Looky is seen blocking the entrance of Orange's Cavern Coaster, and the player has to bake a cake in order to distract it on Hour 4. Lookies can also be seen occasionally around Odd World.
Red[]
Similar to the Lookies, Red is an ball like creature with large eyes. He also has two feet on his body. It is unknown what he would've done, as he is unused.
Trivia[]
- Although similar, the Scientist isn't Red, as later was found in an unused in Chapter 2.
- It is widely theorized that the Rainbow Friends were formerly human and that they were captured and experimented on by the Scientist, or some other force.
- Evidence to back this up being a machine found in the back hallway of the museum, where the machine along the words "THIS IS WHERE THEY WERE ACTUALLY MADE" can be seen.
- Another machine, that the player had to power up with lightbulbs on Night 3 had body parts of Robloxians, which also backs up this claim.
- They are also theorized to have written the colored words on the wall.
- The Rainbow Friends were said to be made for an in-universe cartoon called Rainbow Funtime Friends.
- Their homeland in this said cartoon is Hemlock Woods, along with a log ride in the facility being called "Journey Through Hemlock Woods".
- In Odd World, there is a section of the Cavern Coaster ride where the people in the carts would enter a Hemlock Woods area.
- In a back hallway of the facility, there is a small museum of the history of the Rainbow Friends.
- Prior to Chapter 2, It was unknown whether Odd World has a connection to Hemlock Woods. This was later confirmed, as in Chapter 2, Odd World is actually themed from Rainbow Funtime Friends.
- Yellow's old design resembles A human-sized duck with teeth. It is unknown what he would do in-game though.
- Pink and the unused model of Yellow can only be found outside of the map, with their models fully developed.
- They were also rumored to be in Chapter 2.
- However, Pink still remained unused while Yellow was redesigned and added to Chapter 2.
- The former is widely thought to be hinted on a path with colored numbers.
- They were also rumored to be in Chapter 2.
- There's also a model of a Cyan Rainbow Friend called "Cyan Master" that Charcle (a developer of Rainbow Friends) has in their model inventory. It's later revealed to be an antagonist in Chapter 2.
- Cyan is also the only known Rainbow Friend to be female.
- In a room located in Blue's Castle in Chapter 2, a calendar can be seen which shows the date for the field trip that the player went on to Odd World. This could possibly mean that they knew that the players were going to Odd World and had planned to capture them this whole time.
- The Calendar also says that the field trip took place on July 1st, 2007, which is when the events of the game takes place
- During the Cyan chase in hour 5 in Chapter 2, there is a place where there were robot rainbow friends, indicating that there was a previous attempt in making the Rainbow friends.
