She is an ancient green dragon and a member of the Chroma Conclave. Suffering from a disease given to her by the Ashari, she made a deal with Thordak to follow his lead so he'd help find a cure for her. She is also the archenemy of Vox Machina member Keyleth.

Appearance[]
Raishan is a gargantuan dragon with green scales and two tall sails going from her head to her tail. She has a tall neck that makes her resemble a serpent. She is a bit smaller than most of the Chroma Conclave due to a disease that slightly shrinks her and gives her a rather decayed look.
Personality[]
Raishan is eager to destroy Emon for the sake dominating its denizens and taking its wealth. Her biggest desire however, is to get rid of the disease that ailed her. Since Thordak welched out on the deal the two made, this gave her an unshakable hatred for the red dragon to the point where she would ally herself with Vox Machina in order to kill him.
Biography[]
Background[]
Fifty years before the events of the session, a druid cursed Raishan with a deadly and painful disease after the dragon killed everyone in the Temple of Melora. Over the years, the disease spread, making Raishan desperate to find a cure.
The red dragon, Thordak came into contact with her. He was familiar with the disease, and offered to find a cure if she served him. Raishan agreed, After discussing terms, Thordak left for his domain, but did not return, as Allura bound him to the Elemental Plane of Fire.
After years of searching, Raishan learned of this, and found her way to the plane, demanding the cure. Thordak would only do so if she released him. Raishan then proposed that they formed the Chroma Conclave before helping the red dragon escape.
Four years before the attack at Emon, Raishan took the guise of a teenage girl, joining the Fire Ashari in Pyra. It's leader, Cerkonos, noticed she did not grow like a normal human, and knew she possessed great power.
Raishan's plan was to free Thordak during the celestial's solstice. But the power he was absorbing from the heartstone drove him mad. Raishan decided to postpone the plan as she feared Thordak would forget their deal.
Shortly after the Briarwoods' defeat. Raishan finally released Thordak by opening a rift to the fire plane by a volcano. Then they, along with Umbrasyl and Vorugal attacked and rampaged Emon.
Critical Role[]
Omens[]
Upon rampaging Emon, Raishan killed many townsfolk and gurads, as well as Sovereign Uriel. Vox Machina managed to escape with Gilmore. Thordak then gave his orders to Raishan & Umbrasyl.
Passed through Fire[]
Raishan showed up in Whitestone, taking the form of Assum Emring. She proposed an alliance to the party, offering to help them take down Thordak.
Trust[]
Vox Machina were hesitant to accept the deal, but Raishan explained her beef with Thordak to reaffirm her offer.
Vorugal[]
Raishan aided Vox Machina in the fight against the white dragon. While Vex'ahlia dealt a fatal blow on Vorugal, Raishan finished the job by ripping his throat out.
The Coming Storm[]
As Assum, Raishan wiped Lady Kima's memory of her current disguise when Vox Machina returned home. After further debate amongst the party, they eventually agreed on killing Thordak first. Percy then demanded Raishan show herself as well as how they allied together. Now caught, Raishan revealed herself to the party and promised the real Assum still lived. After promising to bring back the real seeker, she departed.
Clash at Daxio[]
Vox Machina reports to Cassandra de Rolo, Brom Goldhand, Seeker Assum, and Raishan, who is now in her dragon form about what happend in For Daxio. Raishan suggests drawing Thordak out of his lair and attacking him with armies.
Thordak[]
As promised, Raishan aided Vox Machina in their fight against Thordak. After Vax killed him, Raishan approached his corpse and began to cast a spell. Vax attacker her next, not wanting her to be near the slain behemoth, fearing what she'd do. Raishan had betrayed them at this point. Vax, Vex, & Keyleth gave chase to the green dragon, finding crystalline eggs. Raishan attacked them with a meteor shower spell.
Raishan[]
The rest of the party caught up with the half-elves to help them fight the green dragon. Raishan damaged the party to the point where they had to focus more on being healed. After killing Vex and Scanlan, (albeit temporarily) she used a teleport spell to leave the area, taking a couple eggs as well as Thordak's corpse with her.
Deadly Echoes - Deceiver's Stand[]
Vox Machina found Raishan in her human form again in Opash's lab. Raishan cast another meteor swarm, knocking Kerrek, Allura, & Trinket unconscious. Though it seemed Raishan was getting the upper hand again, she had used all of her legendary resistances, opening the opportunity for a decisive point of battle. Keyleth hit Raishan with a Feeble Mind spell, taking away the dragon's intellect and rendering her unable to use spells. Despite this, Raishan managed to fatally mutilate Percy. But that was all she could do before getting her head smashed in by Kerrek's Duskcrusher, finally slaying the green dragon.
The Legend of Vox Machina[]
“ | You! I've seen you. | „ |
~ Raishan finally recognizes Keyleth when they properly meet at last |
Raishan first appears in “The Terror of Tal'Dorei - Part 2” when an orb in Brimscythe lair reveals a green eye and looks at Vox Machina before uttering “Intruders” before collapsing. She is later seen at the end of season one along with the rest of the conclave as they fly towards Emon.
In the season two premiere, “Rise of the Chroma Conclave”, Raishan lands on the wall of the palace courtyard and spews her poisonous breath at the citizens, killing Sovereign Uriel Tal’Dorei in the process. She later confronts Vox Machina and recognizes Keyleth from Brimscythe's cave. Grog then tries to strike Raishan with his axe, but ends up destroying it in the process. Before she could retaliate however, her poison breath is unceremoniously interrupted by Scanlan's spell which she soundly nullifies. Seeing no point of killing them at the time, Raishan smiles evily as the group being forced to flee.
Some time later however, the longer Raishan served Thordak, the more she saw what he was doing as "irrational". Because of this, she approached Vox Machina, taking the form of keeper Yennen. She proposed a temporary alliance to them while explaining what Thordak's real plans were.
In season 3 finale, Raishan transfered her soul to Thordak's corpse to escape her sickly body. Keyleth uses her Elemental power to restrain the dragon and transfer the disease to her body, killing Raishan for good.
Powers & Abilities[]
Raishan can fly at high speeds as well as breathe green gas that is extremely poisonous, causing blood to seep from their facial orifices in seconds. Her scales, like any dragon were harder than most metals, as Grog shattered his axe trying to hit her. Like Brimscythe, she could also shapeshift, seeing as how she took Keeper Yennen's form to get Vox Machina's attention.

Critical Role[]
“ | My home is south of here within the jungles of the Rifenmist Peninsula along the southern side of the Stormcrest. That is where I met the Cinder King nearly two decades ago. He encroached upon my territory. We battled then, an exhausting struggle over days. Thordak is keen of eye, however, and older than I. He held his assault. He saw me, and he saw my disease. I was cursed a half-century ago, when I infiltrated and toppled a temple of Melora that was being built by a high druid for her roving peons. As I consumed her last follower, broke the druid upon her altar, she gave her dying breath to spite me. This sickness that she imparted was merely an inconvenience, but as the years wore on, it spread and worsened. I left my pursuits of base interests and began to obsess over a cure for this before it took me. I burned through servant after servant to find anything on such a disease. Everything failed. Everything. Thordak somehow noted and recognized my ailment. He said, 'You are unwell. A rare malady upon you. It will claim you, in time. However, I've traveled the world, I've gathered many secrets, and I know how to be rid of it. To burn it out of your system with a fire you will never find. I've done it before. I can burn away the worst of illnesses.' Now, I am a creature that can pierce any lie by nature. I know in my heart that he spoke the truth that day, that dragon. When asked what he wanted in return, he said, 'Your servitude.' We made an agreement. He would return once he marked his domain. We discussed the terms. However, he did not return. I grew furious and sought answers only to find that he was brought low and sealed away by some assembled others, some fools from Emon. It took me years of seeking, but I found his whereabouts. I was not going to let my chance to strike away this bloody curse slip from me, so I met him on the fire plane. Over the years, I saw his swelling, his pained form. He spoke of plans, ideas for vengeance and domination, but he would not relinquish the secrets he promised me until I released him. I proposed the Conclave. I assembled the others. I negotiated the agreements. I corrupted the binding stone. I prepared the Pyrah gate. I did everything! As time went on, Thordak's clarity muddled. It seemed his bindings, the power that he was absorbing, was beginning to drive him mad, so we did not have any more time. I needed to initiate the escape before he lost enough to forget our agreement, the means to even fulfill his side of the bargain. No Celestial Solstice as planned, but Winter's Crest would have to do. And with Thordak freed, the Conclave assembled, Tal'Dorei was razed, divided, and won. But Thordak still withheld his words. He laughs at my requests. I see now that he does not mean to tell me, and never really did, as his mind began to go. He enjoys his seat of power over all of you, over me. I want him dead! I want to watch him be torn apart, I want to see his eyes go cold and in that very moment, I want to call his spirit back and bind his word to tell me how I can save myself. And then laugh at his misfortune as I tear what's left of him. |
