Ramón Gálvez Mena, real name Vladimir Aleksandrovich Zadornov, is a undercover KGB agent, and the secondary antagonist of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. He is voiced by Steve Blum, and in Japanese by Houchu Otsuka.
Biography[]
Career as a KGB agent[]
At some point Zardinov lost his right hand in battle and was subsequently rewarded with both a medal from the Security-General of the Soviet Union and an advanced bionic hand that had the ability to produce a flame so he could light cigars or cigarettes. However, he had to quit smoking after it ruined his lungs, barely having a use for it. Sometime later, Zadornov departed for Costa Rica on a KGB mission to conquer Costa Rica so that the Cold War would end with the Soviets winning. Zadornov later assumed the identity of professor "Ramón Gálvez Mena".
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker[]
Under his cover story of being a professor at the University of Peace, Galvez and his student Paz Ortega Andrade visited the Militaires Sans Frontières' base in Colombia to recruit Naked Snake's services. Possessing a red bionic right hand, Galvez helps out the MSF as they slowly uncover the Peace Sentinels' true motives in Costa Rica.
He later admits to being the KGB intelligence operative Vladimir Zadornov when Coldman prepares the Peace Walker to attack from inside a US base in Nicaragua. The MSF, teaming up with the FSLN, captures him and locks him up at the Mother Base, but he breaks out on several occasions, forcing the player to recapture him. He is eventually killed by Big Boss in self-defense.
