~ Randolph Morrow bragging about his power over Ilena. |
Randolph Morrow is the main antagonist of the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episode "Slaves". He is a sexual sadist who kidnaps a woman and forces her to be his sex slave.
He was portrayed by Andrew McCarthy.
Biography[]
Early life[]
Morrow is a wealthy corporate lawyer who is obsessed with power and control and insists on keeping rigid order in work and at home. He physically and sexually abuses his wife, Susan, regularly until they hire a Romanian nanny, Ilena Codrescu, for their adopted daughter Tamara; he then begins abusing her. To maintain control over llena, he makes her sleep in a cage contained within his bed when she is not working. While he stops physically abusing Susan, he keeps her under his control by getting her addicted to ketamine.
"Slaves"[]
Ilena tries to escape by telling a Romanian street vendor that she is in trouble and that he should contact her aunt, Constanta, who also lives in New York City. Detectives Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler of the NYPD's Special Victims Unit question Constanta, who tells them about Ilena's employer. Fearing exposure, Morrow orders Susan to kill her by poisoning her.
Benson and Stabler interview Morrow, who immediately makes Benson suspicious with his hyper-controlling behavior. They also question Susan at her veterinary clinic and are struck by her submissiveness whenever they mention her husband. They become even more suspicious when Constanta's autopsy reveals that she was poisoned with a drug used to euthanize animals. Susan's assistant tells them that the same drug had been stolen from their pharmacy. When they question Susan again, she admits to poisoning Constanta after she confronted her about her husband's abuse of Ilena. They arrest Morrow as he is destroying photos of him torturing Ilena.
While they have Morrow in custody and persuade Susan to testify against him, however, Benson and Stabler still cannot find Ilena. Stabler and Detective John Munch interrogate Morrow, upsetting him by controlling his ability to move, but he still refuses to reveal where he imprisoned Ilena. When they examine his photos of Ilena, however, they see that she is a cage covered by the same rug that Constanta's body was found in and deduce that she is somewhere in Morrow's bedroom. They search the bedroom until they notice a hidden compartment in the bed, and when they remove it, they find Ilena, traumatized but alive. Morrow is then convicted of and executed for kidnapping, rape, and murder.
