Ranger Zhao, best shortened to Zhao, is a supporting antagonist of the We Bare Bears franchise.
Ranger Zhao is a a condescending, egotistical and mean-spirited forest ranger who demonstrates an unsportsmanlike and long-lasting attitude, serving as the villainous counterpart and arch-rival of Ranger Tabes, having defeated the latter and the fellow Poppy Rangers in the annual Peewee Ranger Games led by Ranger Martinez, only to taunt and belittle Tabes and the Poppies (alongside Zhao's fellow minions, the Ivy Rangers) over their loss each year, and to strive for dominance and power over the Peewee Ranger Games, which is until Grizz came into their assistance as their "secret weapon" and, thus, successfully defeated the Ivy Rangers and Ranger Zhao for the first time in the Peewee Ranger Games. Thanks to Grizz's assist, the Poppies would go on to defeat the Ivies and Zhao more times in the next years of the Peewee Ranger Games, eventually leading to the Ivy Rangers and Zhao's deserved disqualification. Ranger Zhao is also more especially the leader of her own juvenile girl scouts, the Ivy Rangers, who are also the arch-rivals of their heroic and sweet counterparts, the aforementioned Poppy Rangers.
Ranger Zhao is voiced by Ming-Na Wen, along with Fa Mulan from the Mulan franchise.
Personality[]
In sheer contrast to Ranger Tabes, Ranger Zhao is an egotistical, reckless, chauvinistic, argumentative and arrogant forest ranger who holds minimal to lack of value for other people in her surroundings, even her closest "friends" and/or other park rangers of her kind, even mocking Grizz for being dressed as a flower as a "secret weapon" to be a cheerleader for the Poppy Rangers, and calling the Poppy Rangers "weird" for cheerleading for Grizz to win the Peewee Ranger Games. Ranger Zhao is also the cruel leader of the juvenile Ivy Rangers, commanding them to follow activities that would, unlike the Poppy Rangers, potentially cause and await severe danger and trouble to either themselves or other people, but Zhao (and the Ivies) does not show even the slightest expressions of awareness and caution within them.

Zhao also demonstrates unsportsmanlike behavior, and constantly taunts Tabes and the Poppies over her loss each year. Ironically, Zhao herself is intolerant to failure, as her response to Tabes on her first win in the Peewee Ranger Games is vowing to defeat her next time in a fit of rage.
Additionally, Zhao is not even above assaulting those around her, such as unlawfully shoving Ranger Martinez for offering the trophy, "Bertha," to Tabes for winning the annual Peewee Ranger Games for the first time. She is also shown to be a massive hypocrite, along with her fellow Ivy Rangers, as she and the Ivies protested that while they would love to win "fair-and-square," they nonetheless admit that "a win is still a win," which is heavily ironic because the Ivy Ranger tackling and injuring Wallace went against the rules of the Peewee Ranger Games and had all rights to be deserved to get disqualified by Ranger Martinez as a result of it.
Physical appearance[]
Ranger Zhao is a tall, slender and attractive woman who has a similar figure to that of Ranger Tabes, with the exception of being drastically less buxom, and she boasts black eyebrows, along with black neck-length and straight hair. Additionally, Ranger Zhao's eyes are seemingly more narrow in comparison to Ranger Tabes.
Like Ranger Tabes, Zhao is almost typically seen wearing her park ranger's uniform: a light green polo, moss green jeans with black boots and a tool belt with a golden buckle, along with wearing a name-tag on her chest.

- Ranger Zhao is parallel to and opposite of Ranger Tabes, who is a heroic and philanthropistic professional forest ranger, and is equivalent to Agent Trout, who shows deep xenophobia against bears, shown by Zhao protesting that "bears can't play" at the annual Peewee Ranger Games and even mocking Grizz for being the cheerleader for the Poppy Rangers.
- Ranger Zhao is the only forest ranger in We Bare Bears that has Chinese ethnicity, although Nguyen comes from a Chinese race.
- She is voiced by Ming-Na Wen, who also voiced Fa Mulan from the Mulan franchise.
- This makes Ranger Zhao the only character from the entire We Bare Bears series to have a voice actor play another character from Disney.
