Ranjith Gangadharan alias "Ranga" is the main supporting antagonist in the 2024 action-comedy movie Aavesham.

He is played by Fahadh Faasil.

Biography[]

Ranga grew up in a hard environment, shaped by the harsh realities of life in the criminal underworld. Born into a family struggling with its own set of challenges, Ranga found early on that the world was not a forgiving place. His natural charisma and sharp instincts led him to quickly rise through the ranks of local gangs, gaining the respect of others for his ruthlessness and ability to command fear. Yet, despite his tough exterior, Ranga harbored a deep sense of loneliness and a longing for true connection, something he struggled to find in the violent world he inhabited. Throughout his life, Ranga became known for his eccentric personality and his tendency to blur the line between violence and affection. He was both feared and admired by those around him, but his relationships were often transactional, with people only drawing close to him when they wanted something. This need for connection, though, was always undercut by his violent nature. When he took Aju, Bibi, and Shanthan under his wing, it was both a gesture of protection and a way to maintain control over them. He wanted to be the figure they could depend on, even if it meant pulling them deeper into the criminal life. As his ties to the trio grew, so did his frustration. He saw their association with him as a sign of loyalty, but when they betrayed him, he felt the sting of abandonment more than he let on. Ranga’s fury erupted when he realized the boys had only befriended him to stay away from a rival gang, Kutty’s group. This betrayal triggered a violent rampage, a final breaking point where his anger consumed him, and he took revenge on Reddy and his men in a brutal showdown. Despite his violent actions, Ranga was unable to break free from the cycle of violence and manipulation that defined his life. In the end, Ranga remained a tragic figure—someone who, despite his strength and power, was deeply insecure and unable to form genuine bonds. His actions were driven by a mix of ego, need for validation, and the inability to let go of the violent world he had built around himself. Ultimately, even though he left the boys in peace after their apology, his presence lingered as a reminder of the dangerous and complicated life he led.

Personality[]

Ranga is a complex character who initially appears friendly, protective, and generous, offering hospitality to the protagonists. However, he is involved in criminal activities, driven by violence and authority.

He struggles with insecurity and a deep need for approval, which leads him to keep the boys around despite their disinterest in his world. Ranga also has a vulnerable side, stemming from his loneliness and inability to form genuine connections without ulterior motives. When betrayed, his anger erupts, revealing a destructive and vengeful side.
