Rankaku is the bodyguard of the Hell Gang, a criminal gang sponsored by Dakker, and the secondary antagonist of the first episode of Kaiketsu Zubat.
History[]
Rankaku accompanied the Hell Gang when they attempted to kidnap Midori Asuka and her students. After Goro Asuka to show up to face them, Hell Dragon called in Rankaku to deal with him. However, Goro's friend Ken Hayakawa then appeared and, after claiming Rankaku was only the second best marksman in Japan, Rankaku challenged him to a shooting match to see who could shoot all the petals off a flower a rabbit was holding first, offering to leave if Ken beat him. The both shot at the rabbit, only for Rankaku to find none of the petals had fallen off. Ken then revealed that he had shot each of Rankaku's bullets as they were in the air before they could go anywhere near the rabbit. Bested, Rankaku and the Hell Gang retreated, vowing to return.
Rankaku later appeared when Ken Hayakawa confronted him seeking revenge for Goro's murder. However, it turned out to be a trap as the Hell Gang had taken Midori hostage and threatened to kill her unless Ken surrendered to them. However, Ken escaped his confinement and a mysterious masked hero named Zubat (who was really Ken's alter-ego) appeared. Hell Dragon sent Rankaku to deal with him, but Zubat killed Rankaku by stabbing him with a knife.
