Raoul Armand Bushman is a minor antagonist in the 2022 Disney+ Marvel Cinematic Universe series Moon Knight. He was Marc Spector's partner during his military days, serving the United States Marine Corps as a military commander. Bushman later left the marine corps to join a mercenary crew and invited Spector to join him.

They later raided Khonshu's Temple, in which Bushman betrayed everyone to get all the treasures for himself, leaving behind a dying Spector to make a deal with Khonshu and for him to become the Moon Knight.

History[]

Raoul Bushman was a soldier who served the United States of America Marine Corps. At some point, Bushman met Marc Spector, a fellow Marine to whom he was his commanding officer. He and Spector became friends, but eventually, Bushman left the marine corps to join a mercenary crew.

Sometime later, Spector was discharged from the Marines for going AWOL in a fugue state (thanks to the dissociative identity disorder he developed thanks to his mother Wendy's abuse), so Bushman invited him to the crew. One night, Bushman and Spector, accompanied by some archaeologists like Doctor Abdallah El-Faouly, raided an Egyptian tomb, which El-Faouly and his fellows had discovered.

However, Bushman's greediness took its toll due to treasures found in the tomb and he resorted to kill all the archaeologists, under the pretext that there should be no witnesses. As a result, Bushman ziep-tied all the archaeologists, including El-Faouly, and then executed them by shooting in the back of their heads respectively. Spector didn't agree with his plans and tried to save El-Faouly and his men, but Bushman betrayed Spector too and shot him, fatally wounding Spector while allowing him to run away with the profits.

Despite leaving his former teammate for dead, Spector didn't die that night as Khonshu, the Egyptian God of the Moon, appeared to him when the dying Spector crawled to his temple to commit suicide and proposed him to prevent his death in exchange of becoming his own warrior, known as Moon Knight, to punish all evil-doers, a proposal Spector affected. Regardless that, Spector felt guilty for El-Faouly's death and approached his daughter Layla with the intentions to tell her the truth, but was unable to do so yet the two grew close and married. However, Layla remained unaware of her father's death until Spector revealed her the truth while they worked together to stop Ammit from resurfacing thanks to her followers.

Trivia[]

According to Moon Knight headwriter Jeremy Slater, Raoul Bushman wasn't included in the show due to his similarities with the Marvel Cinematic Universe version of Erik Killmonger, hence why Bushman was replaced by Arthur Harrow as the first season's main antagonist.
According to Slater, Raoul Bushman is likely still alive, but he speculates on whether Bushman still has his face or not, given how his mainstream counterpart lost his in the comic books.
