Rasgrund is a minor antagonist in the 2017 video game Horizon Zero Dawn, serving as one of the three main antagonists (alongside Ullia and Gavan) of the side quest "Sunstone Rock".

A sadistic criminal from the Oseram tribe, who was sent to the eponymous prison in the Carja settlement of Brightmarket, Rasgrund would later enact a retaliatory attack against the prison warden Janeva, with the aid of the Tenakth prisoner Ullia and the Carja prisoner Gavan, but his plans were ultimately foiled by the Nora Huntress Aloy.

Rasgrund was voiced by Stuart Alexander.

Personality

Rasgrund is sadistic, who has a flair of playing mind games to its foes. One such example is when he forces Aloy to trudge through the booby-trapped gorge with motion-sensitive mines for his sick and twisted entertainment. Prior to his escape, his unrelenting sadism and violent demeanour even forced several prison wardens to put him into an isolated cell, cutting off contact from the rest of his neighbouring inmates.

Biography

Sunstone Rock

Rasgrund, an Oseram criminal and a prisoner, would later precipitate a preemptive, retaliatory attack against the warden Janeva in Sunstone Rock, with the aid of the prisoners Ullia and Gavan. He used a Machine Lure to initiate the attack, which caused two Behemoths to be summoned and started attacking the prison, but Aloy's last-minute intervention immediately stopped Rasgrund's attack, forcing the Oseram tinkerer to escape.

With Aloy obtaining information about Rasgrund's whereabouts at a gorge from Janeva, she would later proceed to hunt down the Oseram criminal to kill him, instead of being imprisoned. Unknown to the Nora, Rasgrund would later booby-trap the entire gorge with motion-sensitive Blaze bombs, in a rather twisted effort to slow down and kill the Nora huntress. But Aloy would later reach the dead end of the gorge and encounter Rasgrund, and with Rasgrund hiding the blast bomb behind his back.

Mocking Aloy once more, Rasgrund would later drop the blast bomb, accompanying with "Oops!", killing him instantly, but Aloy would later successfully escape through the gorge.
