Ratel

Ratel is a minor antagonist in the One Piece franchise. He is a morally bankrupt marine officer, who has no problem oppressing the poor in order to enrich himself. He was defeated by Edward Weevil.

He is voiced by Takeshi Ogura in Japanese.

Biography[]

When Marco left for Wano Country to support Monkey D. Luffy's alliance, Captain Ratel and his unit invaded Sphinx, the homeland of Edward Newgate better known as "Whitebeard". They demanded the return of the treasures left behind by the former Emperor. Although the villagers, consisting of small children and old people, assured them that there were no treasures left there, the Marines stuck to their word. Ratel showed no scruples and even pointed his gun at a small boy and then planned to shoot an old lady. At that moment, however, the former Warlord of the Sea, Edward Weevil, appeared and defeated the Marines with ease. Captain Ratel fell to the ground, bleeding and knocked out, and the Marines were forced to retreat.

Personality[]

Captain Ratel is a very unscrupulous and evil person who steals from poor people as long as he doesn't have to fear consequences himself. He was prepared to shoot an elderly lady as a demonstration, but he also showed no scruples towards children. He is not only similar to Captain Nezumi in appearance, but also in character.

Appearance[]

Ratel is an averagely tall man with a tall mannequin and whiskers. He wears a black shirt, a burgundy suit and the standard white marine coat over it, although he has round ears attached to the marine cap similar to Captain Nezumi.

Trivia[]

His name and appearance are themed around the honey badger, also known as the ratel.
He is very similar to Nezumi, as both characters are corrupt Marine captain themed around mammals. Both characters are greedy to the point of extorting a village once home to an infamous pirate.
