Personality[]
| “ | Everything is born into this world, and eventually, dies. That's the pure and simple truth of it. | „ |
| ~ Rau displaying his nihilistic worldview. |
At first glance, Rau Le Creuset is a courteous and thoughtful individual, despite being the ruthless commander of the Le Creuset team. He is quite confident in his abilities as an ace pilot and is shown to be calm and calculating in battle, always taking the opportunity to anaylze his opponents and predict their moves. However, in spite of his arrogance, he still treats his subordinates with a reasonable amount of dignity and respect and tends not to underestimate his enemies, as displayed by his fights with his rival Mu La Flaga. Rau is also highly charismatic and is able to persuade people for his own ends. Moreover, Rau is rather philosophical and even states he doesn't want to be mocked by future historians.
However, beneath this calm exterior lies a deranged, twisted and nihilistic omnicidal maniac who seeks to wipe out all of humanity, seeing them as unworthy of life. At his core, Rau is extremely delusional and believes that he's the only one with the right to judge both Naturals and Coordinators, having a deep hatred of both. In addition to his charisma, Rau proves to be very manipulative, decieving the Coordinator and Natural factions into fighting against each other in the hopes of driving them all to extinction. He's also uncaring towards those who are caught in the conflict, displaying his callous disregard for innocent lives.
Biography[]
Rau was created by Al Da Flaga to serve as a worthy successor to him, seeing his own son Mu as inferior. He was produced alongside several other clones including Rey Za Burrel by Al Da Flaga and Professor Ulen Hibiki.
After killing Al Da Flaga by burning down his mansion, Rau left Earth to travel to PLANT and join ZAFT. He changed his name to "Rau Le Creuset" and donned a mask over his face to hide it, as it was the face of the man he hated most. Rau's piloting skills and charisma soon led to him rising through the ranks of ZAFT, eventually being given his squadron in the Le Creuset Team. However, Rau held no real loyalty to the organization and was only with them to further his ends. He also established ties with the radical anti-Coordinator organization Blue Cosmos and its leader Muruta Azrael, occasionally leaking information to them so he could play the two sides against each other (partially confirming that Le Creuset leaked information of ZAFT'S Mobile Suits so the Earth Alliance could develop their 1st generation series of Gundams and later the Dagger series).
Rau eventually enacts the final stages of his plan: cause the GENESIS to fire on Earth and wipe out all of humanity. Piloting his Gundam, the ZGMF-X13A Providence, Rau fought Kira in a fierce battle that ended with him being impaled. Dying, Rau smiled, believing that he had won. However, as this was going on, Athrun detonated Justice's reactor within GENESIS, destroying it and ensuring that Rau's plan did not succeed.
