Raven is a minor antagonist from the original G.I. Joe series and the main antagonist of the episode "In the Presence of Mine Enemies". She is a COBRA Night Raven pilot.
History[]
While flying in Africa, G.I. Joe member Slip Stream is pursued by several Cobra Night Ravens led by a pilot called Raven, who demands he surrender. After Slip Stream shot down the other Night Ravens, Raven tells him he fought well before shooting at his Conquest X-30. Both pilots shoot each other down, landing near a Cobra base. Slip Stream goes to save Raven, but she takes off her helmet (revealing she is female, to his shock) and fires at him. After five shots, she uses up the power pack, which she blames on Destro and his "shoddy equipment". After Raven is pulled out of the wreckage of her jet by Slip Stream, she blames him for her sprained ankle and wrestles him, before grabbing his gun. As she is about to kill him, her Night Raven from behind explodes, causing her to fall and for the gun to fall off the cliff. Shortly after, an army of B.A.T.S. arrive. Raven believes they are here to rescue and help her, but the B.A.T.S. attack both of them.
Raven is forced to cooperate with Slip Stream, as they escape into the Cobra laboratory. Slip Stream splints her leg and asks if there is a radio in the base, to which she responds if there was she would not tell him. Despite the situation, Raven still believes Cobra will rescue her. They find an underground passageway, through which they land in a pit of what Slip Stream thinks is slime, which Raven says is not but does not tell him what it is. As Slip Stream helps her, Raven refuses his help and feels the Cobra Command code tape in his flight suit pocket. They enter and hide in an abandoned lab, but upon hearing the B.A.T.S' footsteps Raven shouts to them she has a prisoner. Raven laughs when the B.A.T. knocks out Slip Stream, but then it chokes her. Slip Stream saves her from the B.A.T. before running off with her. Raven begins to believe there is a problem with the B.A.T.S' programming. As they escape, when Slip Stream is briefly knocked out she steals the tape from him. When it becomes clear that Raven knows much about the lab, she reveals upon Slip Stream's urging that they are in one of Dr. Mindbender's bio-engineering labs and something went wrong with an experiment.
They encounter a green, tentacled monster following them and escape to the communications room. Raven saves themselves from a fan by quickly shooting it, while criticizing Slip Stream for his lack of training for it. Raven defends against the B.A.T.S. as Slip Stream contacts Dial Tone and gives him their location, and uses a bomb against them which also destroys the Joes' communications link. She contacts Dr. Mindbender for help, but contrary to her expectations he abandons her to die. Angered at what she got for her loyalty to Cobra, Raven helps Slip Stream escape. Slip Stream prepares to program the base's computer to self-destruct, and successfully does after Raven gives him back the Cobra Command code. The two are rescued in time by the Joes. Raven rips off a patch with the Cobra insignia on her sleeve and tosses it out of the Tomahawk, presumably joining G.I. Joe afterward.
