Biography[]
How he and Albert got to know each other is unknown. At some point, however, they began to be together focus on New York drug dealers. After spotting and tracking them, they kidnap their wives, rapes and mutilates her, call the dealer, demand a large ransom and kill the woman even though the ransom has been paid. They after dumped the body' pieces somewhere.
One victim was Leila Anderson, an interior design student at Brooklyn College. Before killing her, they met Jonas Logan, a groundskeeper, at a video store. Noticing he worked at a cemetery, they pretended to work for DEA agents with a police radio and files on drug dealers as proof. It's later revealed they killed a DEA agent and stole her papers. They drank at some bar, where Logan told them that Leila was a wife of a local drug dealer and that he wanted to save her. The duo accepted and after observing her for some time, kidnapped and brought her near the water in Brooklyn. After stopping the van they used, they tortured Anderson by ripping off one of her tits. Horrified over realizing what Ray and Albert truly are, Logan flees away from the van. The duo eventually killed the woman, mutilated her body, and left the parts to the cemetery, to be found by Logan found the next day.
Some time later, they kidnapped the wife of drug dealer Kenny Kristo. After they did so, Ray called Kristo to taunt him about the fact they got his wife. Not believing him, Kristo searches for her but don't find her. Ray called again and pretended to want to help Kristo to get his wife back, if he doesn't call the police. Ray demands $1 million in exchange for the woman, but Kristo does not have that amount and says he only has $400,000. Albert accepts the proposal. Kristo, however, demands to know if she is alive. Ray tells him as proof that he remembers her breasts, as she has one with a mole in it, and offers to cut one off and take it to Kristo's house. Ray orders Kristo to put the money in two bags, go to a pay phone, and wait for his call.
Kristo does as Ray told him. The kidnapper called and send him to a street corner to wait for five minutes, then come back to find his wife in Kristo's car. However, she was not in the car when Kristo came back. Ray send him home, saying his wife was waiting for him there, only for Kristo to not find her when he arrived. Ray called again and send him to Red Hook saying she was in an abandoned car. Kristo found the car, opened the trunk, and found the body' parts of his wife wrapped in bags. The killers also left a recording of the woman being raped for Kristo's “listening pleasure”.
In the movie proper, they're watching over their next victim, waiting for the good moment to abduct her. However, she never comes out of her house. Growing impatient, Ray goes to the courtyard of the house to see what is going on and notices the victim is lying on a bed, being taken care of by a nurse. Frustrated, Ray comes back and asks Albert that they leave, as the man will not want to pay as much as he would for the nurse. As they start the car, they see Ludmilla (calling herself Lucia), the pair's girl, crossing the street and set their sights immediately on her.
One night, they break in the house, incapacitate the family's dog, and kidnap Ludmilla by using a Taser on her. They calls the father, demanding $1,000,000 in exchange of Lucia alive. Detective Matt Scudder, being at the dealer's home because with the knowledge of the situation, takes the telephone at the time of a call of Ray and makes him understand well that Lucia must be alive and in one piece if he holds with his money. Surprised, Ray hangs up.
Ray calls again. Scubber answers the phone. Assuming this is a new guy, Ray asks who he is. Scudder doesn't answer the question and demands the daughter alive. Ray tells the father must just follow instructions, but Scudder refuses, mentioning how Mrs. Kristo was killed even if her husband did what they told. Ray assures Lucia is well, but Scudder doesn't believe him and wants to talk to her personally. Ray admits he can't at this moment, using a cabin phone. Hearing the automatic voice asking 25 cents, Scudder proposes to Ray to give his phone number to the detective, but Ray decides to hang up.
When he returns later, he says Lucia can't come to talk over the phone and asks Scudder how he can assure she is well. To do so, the detective demands to know the name of the family's dog and also the former one, just in case they already know the name of the first one. Later, Ray returns to the cabin phone and after saying common dog' names just to taunt Scudder, he tells that the name of the actual dog is Watson. The former one's name is Balalaika. He then warns Scudder he gets two hours to deliver them the money and hangs up.
In the evening, Ray calls Scudder, who proposes that they meet in person, 50-yards apart. The criminal duo will arrive the first to see Scudder arrive. Ray tells he will have a knife under the girl's throat. Scudder assures him it is okay, as if he shows the girl, he will get the money. Scudder will be unarmed. Ray and Albert will check the money and when they're satisfied, they will let Lucia go. When they feel good about it, they and Scudder will go home. Ray is not convinced by Scudder's plan, as he could grab him and see his face. Scudder insults him, saying he is a genetic error. Offended, Ray threatens to slit Lucia's throat and sends pieces of her to her father. Scudder threatens to kill him if he does and says if he complies with his demands, he will let them go to Los Angeles to the lives of as many drug dealers as they want. After thinking a bit, Ray finally accepts. The appointment is set to the cemetery where they let Leila' pieces to Jonas, at 10:30 PM.
Scudder arrives with Kenny Kristo and his brother Peter to set up a trap to the partners-in-crime. The exchange goes as planned. However, Scudder sees Lucia has two fingers cut off. Ray points his pistol toward Scudder and is perplexed to see the detective's absence of fear. He renounces to shoot him, but Albert, who was counting the money, realizes some are from Monopoly game and warns his partner. But before he can shoot Scudder, the latter draws a gun and shoots Ray, who survives because he wears a bulletproof vest. Peter and Kenny shoot the duo, but they don't touch them. Ray however, manages to kill Peter, gets into his van with Albert, and they drive away, hitting several graves.
Unbeknownst to them, TJ is also on the van and manages to give their location to Scudder. With Ray complaining about the wound, Albert gets into their house. Ray tells him there is a first aid kit in the bathroom, only for Albert to completely ignore him and go urinate. They go down in the basement. Albert checks the money and figures out there are some real. Ray, on his side, grabs a Taser, and is brought to a chair by his partner. Ray then notices TJ, but before he can react, Albert strangles him from behind with a rope.
Personality[]

When he talks, he can be falsely polite and has a dark sense of humor, making jokes with the atrocities he commits. In contrast to his sadism, Ray is also a bit of a coward, quick to run away when he is in danger. He also doesn't stop to complain after he got shot by Scudder.
