Ray is a fictional character and major antagonist of the British soap opera EastEnders. He merely appeared as a supporting antagonist in June 2006.

In his storyline, Ray is the ex-boyfriend of Carla Mitchell who forced her to proceed with their plan to extort money from her husband Grant Mitchell. In the end Ray is foiled by Grant and his brother Phil, but not before finding out that Carla planned to double crossed him had they done it.

The character was portrayed by David Kennedy, who had earlier played Dave Roberts in the series as well.

Biography

Ray first came to Albert Square in Walford, a fictional borough in East London, from June 2006. It turned out that he was a notorious criminal and the ex-boyfriend of Carla Mitchell, a member of the Mitchell Family.

Soon it became clear that Ray and Carla were planning to rob her husband Grant Mitchell. During that time, it appeared that Ray was the mastermind as he was forcing Carla to collude with their scheme and would often threaten her at times. When Grant learned about Carla's ordeal with her ex-boyfriend, he went to confront Ray on his own. Ray ambushed Grant when the latter arrived and they fought, but Grant quickly overpowered Ray and beat him up.

Later on, Ray contacted Carla and demanded £12,000 in exchange for her silence. She later told Grant about the threat, but lied that Ray wanted £25,000 from them - which reveals that Carla was the mastermind behind the situation and not Ray. Soon Grant got the money with help from his brother Phil Mitchell, and together the Mitchell Brothers went to confront Ray at the hotel.

At first Ray wasn't indimidated by the Mitchell Brothers and reminded them about his earlier threats to Carla. He then clarifies that Carla was asked to bring him £12,000 and this confuses Grant, as Carla had claimed that Ray wanted £25,000 earlier on. Ray attempted to attack the duo, but they overpower him and Grant informs Ray that Carla set him up. Ray vows to hunt down Carla, but instead flees the square at Grant's behest when the latter assures him that he'll deal with Carla; before leaving, Ray tells Grant to "make it brutal" on Carla for her betrayal.
