Razorclaw is a minor antagonist in the Transformers franchise. The original version of the character is leader of the Predacons.

In the original Transformers TV Show, he was voiced by Joe Leahy.

Biography[]

Generation One[]

Cartoon[]

Razorclaw and the other Predacons are introduced in the third season opener "Five Faces of Darkness". They were sent to ambush Blurr and Wheelie and stop them getting Metroplex's transformation cog to Earth. They were defeated by Sky Lynx.

Razorclaw continued to appear among Galvatron's Decepticons. He was given a key role in "Nightmare Planet" in which he and the other Predacons were part of a test by the Quintessons that saw Transformers assailed by images from Daniel Witwicky's nightmares. During the incident, Razorclaw ended up teaming up with the Autobot Springer to battle the monsters attacking them.

In "Call of the Primitives", Razorclaw was among the animal-form Transformers summoned to fight Tornedron. He objected to Sky Lynx assuming control of the group. He made his last appearance in "The Return of Optimus Prime" where he was among those infected with the Hate Plague.

Comic[]

Razorclaw first appeared in the "Prey" arc in the Marvel UK title. He and the Predacons were summoned to Earth by Megatron to help him hunt Optimus Prime. However, Razorclaw was actually acting under orders from Shockwave as part of his plan to seize control of the Decepticons and abandoned Megatron in the middle of the battle. He remained with the Earth Decepticons for a while, helping Shockwave investigate the return of Galvatron, before returning to Cybertron.

This led into his first Marvel US appearance in Issue #25, which also sees him summoned to Earth by Shockwave to help depose Megatron. (The UK printing established Megatron had amnesia and had forgotten their earlier encounter.) Razorclaw helped stoke Megatron's paranoia by leading his men in pretending to be Autobots, leading Megatron to believe Optimus Prime was after him and perish in a space bridge explosion.

Razorclaw remained on Earth, appearing in the UK story "Grudge Match" where he was drawn into Divebomb's feud with Swoop and ended up leading the Predacons in a battle with the Dinobots, where he personally fought Grimlock. In US #37, he was at the forefront of Ratbat's increased campaign after the Autobots left Earth, goading the anti-robot human organisation RAAT into executing the captive Throttlebots. Razorclaw and the Predacons joined Ratbat in attacking RAAT headquarters but failed to catch the Throttlebots, whose brain modules had been placed in toy cars.

His last Marvel US appearance was during the Underbase Saga. After initially battling Scorponok's Decepticons to stop them leaving with knowledge of the Underbase, he joined the Autobot-Decepticon alliance formed to stop the Underbase-powered Starscream, being part of the unit led by Scorponok and Grimlock, but was among those killed in Starscream's attack on Tokyo.

The post-movie version of the character appeared in Marvel UK's "Space Pirates" as one of Soundwave's generals battling a Quintesson invasion of Cybertron. He also appeared in the story "Snow Joke" in Marvel UK's Earthforce storyline, where he and Rampage had the misfortune to come across Grimlock when he had just been the target of a practical joke and became the outlet for his frustrations.
