Rebecca Anderson is one of the major antagonists of The Mentalist TV-show. She appears to be an ordinary secretary of Bosco and his team, but she turns out to be an accomplice of Red John. She was played by Shauna Bloom.
Biography[]
Little is known about Rebecca's past. Only Patrick's words shed some light on it. As a child, she was raped by one of her relatives. Because of this, she plunged into darkness, from which she was pulled out by Red John. Soon she got a job at the CBI as a secretary in a group led by Sam Bosco. Sam quickly showed himself to be an antagonist of Patrick Jane, whom he disliked. However, he had nothing against Lisbon and her group. He was even in love with Lisbon herself. One day, Red John's case was transferred to Sam Bosco's group. Patrick, whose family was killed by Red John, was not very happy with this decision, because he wanted to settle accounts with Red John himself. Red John himself was also unhappy with this decision. He got a thrill from Patrick's torment, so it was beneficial for him to have his case handled by Teresa Lisbon's group (of which Patrick was a member). That's why he ordered Rebecca to kill Bosco's people (which she did). Upon learning that Bosco was seriously wounded and his men were killed, Patrick and his friends immediately arrived at the scene. An investigation began. When Rebecca was exposed, Patrick personally interrogated her. She happily confessed to killing Bosco's men and that she did it on Red John's orders, but flatly refused to name Red John (or at least give any clues as to who he was). Soon after, she was poisoned. Patrick immediately realized who was behind it. Later, already in the sixth season, when Reede Smith (one of Red John's henchmen) was arrested, he confessed that he was an accomplice in Rebecca's murder. Although it is not clear to what extent Red John personally participated in this, it is clear that he was behind it.
Personality[]
Like Lorelei Martins, Rebecca is not so much evil as she is in love. She blindly obeys Red John, and even Patrick's words do not make her think about the true horror of what she has done. She is quite capable of human interests, such as music.
