The Red Demon is one of the overarching antagonists of the Evil Dead franchise, serving as the main antagonist of "The Long Road Home" arc in the Army of Darkness comics.
A demon from ancient times, he is the author of the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis, making him responsible for the horrors that have been unleashed from the book throughout all of history.
Biography[]
Many centuries ago in ancient times, the Red Demon was a demon who wrote the book that would become the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis. Sealed away in a stone-like state within a mausoleum near Detroit, the Red Demon would awaken in the present-day upon sensing that "The End of Days" was nearing. Gathering an army of demons, the Red Demon would also summon the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (the Anti-Christ, War, Famine and Death) as part of his forces, before setting out to fulfil the prophecy.
Using the Horsemen to capture many innocents and enslave them, the Red Demon would begin to use them in crafting a new book of the dead. As he removes the tongue of one slave and sews his mouth shut, the Anti-Christ shows disinterest of Earth, only for the Red Demon to threaten her with removing her own tongue, with the Anti-Christ unable to do a thing as Death stops her. Before long, the Red Demon begins to flay many of the slaves alive and also using their blood to write the pages of his new book, while allowing the Anti-Christ and her companions to have their way with the remaining slaves.
Upon finishing his studies, the Red Demon learns that Ash Williams, the Chosen One, still lives and that for the End of Days to be brought upon, his blood must be written into the final page of the Red Demon's latest book, Necronomicon Ex Libris. As a result, the Red Demon and the Horsemen set out to find Ash, killing any who dare cross their paths. Upon finding two girls who had previously knocked Ash and his love interest Shelia out and sold them to Big Boss Man at the Cleveland Dawgs Stadium, the Red Demon allows Famine to have them, resulting in the Horseman killing the pair as the group set off to the Stadium.
Arriving at the Stadium, the Red Demon and his forces begin to slaughter the innocents trapped outside the Stadium, before making their way inside. Upon noticing Ash and Shelia inside Big Boss Man's tower, the Red Demon has War and Death collapse the tower, before the pair are surrounded. Though Ash manages to kill Famine, War beats him down, before Death manages to slice at him with his scythe allowing the Red Demon to place Ash's blood on the final page and summon the Dark Ones themselves.
However, Shelia is able to grab the book at the last minute, with Ash using his own blood to rewrite the page so that the pair are back at S-Mart before everything that they went through had happened. Subsequently, this leads to reality being altered for the better as the post-apocalypse is averted, with the Red Demon and his forces being erased from existence as reality returns to normal for Ash and Shelia.

Powers and Abilities[]
- Necromancy: Within the cemetery he was laid in, the Red Demon was able to summon various undead to serve as his army.
- Necronomicon Knowledge: Being the author of the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis, the Red Demon was knowledgable on the contents of the book, as well as how to create a new version, which was shown to be the Necronomicon Ex Libris.
