The Red Man, also known as Red, is one of the two main antagonists (alongside Daniel Mills) of the 2016 indie video game Bear With Me.
He is a highly mysterious, unnamed entity of unknown nature, who is infamous for his acts of criminality in Paper City, including arson and murder, prior to the events of the game, and is dedicated to hunt down Amber Ashworth and her companion Ted E. Bear all across Paper City. He serves as the primary archenemy of both Amber and Ted.
Despite his villainous acts, it is revealed that the Red Man is one of the several fragmental manifestations of Amber's inability to cope with her brother Flint's death. Furthermore, he was revealed to be a manifested form through the red cloth that Amber pulled from a fireman's shirt, with his real goal to make Amber finally reveal her memories that she bottled for years and come in terms with her brother's death.
Appearance[]
The Red Man, as the name suggests, wears an all-red clothing, including his hood, gloves, pants, and his boots. His entire form, on the other hand, is nothing more than black void with two white glowing eyes glistening within the head.
Personality[]
The Red Man's personality is described as enigmatic and also deranged, as he takes pleasure in committing criminal acts with little care, including arson in Paper City, so much that he garnered infamy around the city, including the Paper City Police Department and Ted E. Bear.
In reality, however, the Red Man has shown to have some great sense of seriousness, as exemplified in the finale of the game, where he forces Amber to face and confront the reality of her own past, including her brother Flint's death, as well as her current actions, rather than deluding herself to think that Flint is still alive.
Trivia[]
- The Red Man's true form is unknown, as it is implied that it simply manifested from the red cloth that Amber pulled from the fireman, before the events of the game.
- Despite being the main villain of the game, the Red Man is later revealed to be more of an anti-villainous character, as his true goal in the finale of the game is to make Amber understand the reality of her actions by coping with the loss of Flint.
