Red Shoes is an overarching antagonist of the 2022 mobile game Goddess of Victory: Nikke. She is the main antagonist of the Old Tales event story, which takes place decades prior to the main storyline.
Red Shoes was one of the members of the V.T.C, a religious organization, where she was a top researcher along with Abe. However, her ambition of unifying humans with Raptures led to her improving their infamous Corruption code which she subjected to Cinderella.
She was voiced by Kang Eun-ae in Korean, Haruka Terui in the Japanese version, and by Michaela Jill Murphy in the English version.
Personality[]
While Red Shoes volunteered to be converted to a NIKKE, her main goal was simply to gain power and fame for herself.
At first, Red Shoes seemed like a genuine kind-hearted being despite her personal goal for fame and power. However, it was far from who Red Shoes actually was, as in a private conversation with Cinderella, Red Shoes confessed that she was the one who corrupted her. She confessed that she did so because she wanted to unify the NIKKEs, raptures, and humans so they would no longer have to fight each other, revealing the darker, more sinister side of her. Her final message just before her demise at Cinderella's hands was where she wished she became a heretic. As part of a memory, she taunted Cinderella before falsely wishing her good luck on her loneliness and nothingness.
History[]
Red Shoes was once a researcher alongside the Old Tales squad creator, Abe for the V.T.C., a religious organization. The two constitutes as the "brains" of the organization. Upon converting herself into a Nikke, one of her ambition is to become famous and powerful, as part of her 'unification of everything'.
In secret, Red Shoes was refining the Raptures' corruption code by inserting her personality code into it. Using an old research lab, she experimented over a hundred of mass-produced Nikkes and several immobilized Raptures in an attempt to refine the new strain of Corruption. By doing so, she believes that humanity can simply achieve peace by coexisting with the Raptures instead of waging war against an unbeatable foe. Her first course of action is by corrupting Cinderella herself, which is the most powerful among the squad.
Cinderella then became corrupted and began attacking her squad mates with Red Shoes' legs getting severed in the process. Later on, Abe repaired each and every Old Tales squad that were severely injured in Cinderella's rampage. This led to the V.T.C. to declare her as a 'Heretic', calling her as "Anachiro". The ensuing chaos led to the Central Government in branding the Old Tales squad as traitors.
After Anachiro was defeated by the Goddess squad and was subjected to research for a new component used in killing Heretics otherwise known as 'Vapaus' before being released by Abe, Cinderella takes Red Shoes alone in a conversation, offering the same tea (implied to be the ones used in corrupting her). In a suspicion that Red Shoes might be into something, she reveals herself to be the one responsible for her Corruption, detailing that the initially, the Corruption simply only causes paralysis into a Nikke. However, through various adjustment and improvement, she bestows this code to the Raptures as means of achieving her goal.
In a fit of anger and betrayal for ruining her image, Cinderella shot Red Shoes in the chest for being directly responsible for her Corruption and humanity's ultimate defeat at the war against Raptures. Although her core being damaged, she has activated her eponymous footwear's auto-pilot mode as last resort, although Cinderella simply amputated her legs again, leaving her dead and her severed legs to 'walk away'. Later on, a Lord-class Rapture made use of her severed footwear and fought the remaining Old Tales squad, but still failed to defeat them.

- Red Shoes's name is taken from 'The Red Shoes', a fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen where a lower class girl was adopted by a wealthy mother who later passed away and afterwards, the former was cursed with being unable to stop dancing nor take off her red shoes, resulting in her having to be amputated of her legs to dispel the curse.
