Red Son is a major antagonist turned supporting character of the Lego Toy line and animated series Lego Monkie Kid.
He is a core member of the Demon Bull family, being the demon son of DBK and Princess Iron Fan. Through his many schemes to aid his father in his conquest he acts as a recurring enemy to MK and his friends during the first season. Later on his antagonistic role decreases as he is forced to cooperate with the heroes against bigger threats, becoming an ally who plays an important part in the final battle against Lady Bone Demon. He is based on the character of Red Boy from the original Journey to the West.
He is voiced by Kyle McCarley, who also voiced Simon Laurent in Infinity Train
Appearance[]
Despite being a demon and the son of the Demon Bull King, Red Son has a normal human appearance much like his mother, being the only two demons in the series to appear like this. This is perhaps because Princess Iron Fan wasn't officially considered a demon until she married the Bull King.
He has red hair, which he ties into a ponytail while a part of it is stylized to resemble a flame. His attire consists of a black sleeveless shirt with turtleneck and purple pants under a traditional red overcoat. He uses pince-nez glasses.
Red Son has an X-shaped scar on the left side of his face and a birthmark in the form of a red dot on his forehead like other depictions of the Red Boy.
Personality[]
An intellectual with a vast knowledge on technology and science, Red Son is a self proclaimed genius who likes to boast about his superiority and is prone to anger when things don't go according to his plans. He is very proud of his demonic heritage as the son of DBK and he can be quite arrogant about it, seeing MK as a peasant unworthy of his father's time. He also has quite a temper, as evidenced by his many explosive outbursts through the series.
It is also shown that Red Son cares deeply about his family, loving his parents and constantly trying to prove himself as valuable to them. Though he is confident in his powers he is always looking for approval from DBK, who is initially not too fond of his reliance on technology as opposed to his more direct approach on conquering. Their relationship as a family gets better over time, with them eventually stepping down from their world conquest to spend more time together doing mundane things.
Red Son shows a more sympathetic side towards Mei, as despite being enemies at first the two bond during their teamups, with Red Son becoming a mentor of sorts to the dragon girl thanks to their experiences with their hidden powers and how they controlled them.
