Field Mate Redford is one of the two main antagonists (Alongside Social Services) of Wes Anderson's film Moonrise Kingdom.
He is one of the Khaki Scouts who has been tasked with finding one of the runaway scouts, Sam. However Redford was cruel to Sam and kept insisting on using force and physically harming him if he resisted.
He was portrayed by Lucas Hedges.
Biography[]
Redford was first seen at the start of the film with several other scout members and their Scoutmaster Randy during the morning preparing things. When they all sat down for breakfast Randy realized that one of the scouts, Sam Shakowsky was missing. Randy and the scouts ventured to his tent to find that Sam had ran away in the night.
Redford is seen again with Scoutmaster Randy who instructs the scouts to go find Sam. Redford asks if they are allowed to physically harm him if he resists which Randy finds absurd and says no. Redford and his scouts track down Sam and his lover, Suzy while riding on a motorbike. When Redford confronts them, Sam bargains with Redford to let them go. Redford denies the request and rides full speed at them with his motorbike. Suzy stabs Redford with scissors causing him to fall off his bike which crashed into a tree and for Redford and the scouts to retreat
Redford is later taken to another camp where he is treated for his wounds. One day while resting he sees Sam trying to escape. The two talk for a little bit before Redford yells out loud Sam's location and causing him to run away. Redford is seen for the final time in the church during the hurricane.

- Lucas Hedges was originally considered for the lead role of Sam, however Jared Gilman was cast. Not wanting to waste his talent though, Wes Anderson cast him as Redford.
